Anderson is coming back

The trailer for ‘Isle of Dogs’, released Thursday, is giving us major ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’ vibes as Anderson returns to the stop-motion animation style of his 2009 Roald Dahl adaptation.

Directed by Wes Anderson, the stop-motion comedy is set in Japan and centers around a young boy (Koyu Rankin) on the quest to find his lost dog. All after the canine pets of the city are exiled to a garbage dump. Along the way, he gets the help of other abandoned dogs, in what bounds to be a great adventure.

Anderson announced the project in December and has definitely come through on his promise of a star-studded cast.

The film marks the first animated film for Fox Searchlight since  2001’s ‘Waking Life.’

The dogs are voiced by Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson, Bryan Cranston, Tilda Swinton, Greta Gerwig, Frances McDormand, Jeff Goldblum, Harvey Keitel, Liev Schreiber, F. Murray Abraham, Courtney B. Vance, Bob Balaban, and Yoko Ono.

This is Anderson’s first movie after ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ (2014), a critically acclaimed film that was nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards.

Anderson was reportedly inspired by director Akira Kurosawa of ‘Seven Samurai’ and ‘Rashomon’ fame.

‘Isle of Dogs’ is all set to hit the theaters on 23 March 2018.
