News broke on Wednesday, that Jude Law is set in ‘Captain Marvel’ alongside Brie Larson. Law will not only be stepping into the Marvel EU but also in the wizardly world. Since he’s also taking part of the sequel of ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.’
The actor is pretty busy. He’s attached to star in a third ‘Sherlock Holmes’ Film, and just wrapped Woody Allen’s film ‘ The Rhythm Section.’
Say hi to Mar-Vell
Jude Law is taking part of Marvel’s upcoming first female stand-alone film ‘Captain Marvel.’ Earlier this year, Brie Larson was announced as the heroine.
The film is being helmed by Anna Bodem and Ryan Fleck and is being penned by ‘Tomb Raider’s writer Geneva Robertson-Dworet.
The film will follow Carol Danvers, played by Larson, an Air Force pilot who gains powers after her DNA becomes fused with an alien’s after an accident.
Also set to cast is Samuel L. Jackson, who will play Nick Fury in the film, and Ben Mendelsohn, who’s set to play the film’s villain.
As for Law, the actor will be playing Doctor Walter Lawson, a.k.a. Mar-Vell, who becomes a mentor of sorts to Danvers as she tries to figure out her new powers.
‘Captain Marvel’ is set to hit theaters on March 8, 2019.
Landing in the wizardly world
Earlier this year, Jude Law was announced to star as a young Albus Dumbledore in the sequel of ‘Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them.’
And now, we have more information about it.
This time, the ‘Harry Potter’ spin-off will initially take place just months after the first film, with Johnny Deep’s Grindelwald having escaped from prison.
“The only one who might be able to stop him is the wizard he once called his dearest friend, Albus Dumbledore [played by Jude Law],” the film’s synopsis reads.
“But Dumbledore will need help from the wizard who had thwarted Grindelwald once before, his former student Newt Scamander.”
According to reports, the film will start off in London, before moving to Paris. There’s promise of “some surprising nods to the Harry Potter series. That will definitely delight fans of the books and film series”.
Returning cast members include Eddie Redmayne, Depp, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, and Ezra Miller.
Newcomers include Zoë Kravitz, as Leta Lestrange, Callum Turner as the “famed Theseus Scamander,” and Claudia Kim in a mysterious role.
Helmed by David Yates once more, the film is expected to hit theaters on 16 November 2018.
