What Can We Expect From Taylor Swift At The VMA’s

Swift Has Been Making Headlines And Fans Don’t Know What To Expect From Her Comeback

Taylor Swift will premiere her new video ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ at the MTV VMA’s on Sunday and the speculation is getting the best of the Swifties.

Taylor is nominated in the best collaboration category for her duet with Zayn Malik on ‘I Don’t Want to Live Forever. ‘ Set to perform at the awards this year is Miley Cyrus, Ed Sheeran, Fifth Harmony, Lorde, the Weeknd, Thirty Seconds to Mars and Shawn Mendes. Katy Perry, whom Swift has had a longtime feud with, will host.

World premiere of ‘Look What You Made Me Do’

This Sunday’s MTV VMA is going to be Taylor Swift‘s perfect platform for her resurgence.

Following an off the radar year, on and off stage, Taylor ignited her comeback last Friday when she wiped out her social media accounts. After the dark snake related videos posting from Monday to Wednesday, on Thursday she announced her new album and dropped her new single ‘Look What You Made Me Do.’

And of course, a music video has to be released, and in a big way. Taylor announced she’ll reveal the new video at this weekend’s MTV Video Music Awards.

On Friday morning, ‘Good Morning America‘ displayed sneak peeks of the upcoming video, including a shot of a car crash, a shot of a woman in a red dress and Swift standing in a black ensemble in front of a group of dancers.

The song was co-written by Swift and Jack Antonoff and appears to clap back at Katy Perry and critic public. Let’s not forget that Perry and Swift have been feuding for a couple of years now, and that Perry is hosting the show on Sunday.

The feud reignited earlier this year when Katy Perry discussed the issue during the promotion of her new album ‘Witness.’ While things were cooling off it suddenly reignited when Swift making her music available on Spotify the same day that Perry’s new album dropped.

Then, Katy released her ‘Swish Swish‘ video on the same day Taylor dropped her new single ‘Look What You Make Me Do,’ on Thursday.

Sunday bounds to be pretty dramatic, for sure.

A history of iconic Swift VMA moments

It’s been a long time since Taylor made her first VMAs appearance in 2008, in fluffy curls and as the newest country sweetheart. From that moment on, she has always used the VMAs as a huge platform for her comebacks, debuts and, yes, feuds and beef.

The very next year from her debut at the show delivered an iconic moment when Kanye stage-crashed Taylor after she won the best female video award for ‘You Belong With Me.’ Then in 2010, she performed ‘Innocent’ inspired by the previous year interruption. The emotional performance included a video of the incident and a barefoot white-dressed Taylor.

After skipping 2011 ceremony, she came back in 2012 and debuted ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ along with a whole new look and attitude. She made another comeback in 2014 when she dropped ‘1989’ and performed a sparkly rendition of ‘Shake It Off.’

2015 was a particularly interesting year. While she won for the ‘Bad Blood’ video, she also took the stage to make peace at some bad blood with fellow musicians.

First, she presented Kanye West with Video Vanguard Award, with a candid speech and even a hug between the two. And then, she also surprised viewers by coming out during Nicki Minaj‘s performance. The two instantly squashed all the previous headlines over their rumored beef and the joint performance was the biggest moment of the night.

Fans sure love some good beef

Since we’re talking about Nicki, the star raised eyebrows Thursday night when she sent out a Tweet and some speculated it might be about Taylor Swift, who dropped her new single on the same day.

Nicki Tweeted “N—- sit down. Be humble,” referencing Kendrick Lamar‘s hit track ‘Humble.’ While she didn’t mention Taylor, and it’s unclear whether the post was a jab at the singer at all, fans from both sides started questioning if the feud is still going on.

Many fans replied to the tweet with gifs of Swift, and some even mentioned the “Bad Blood” singer’s handle, including a simple question mark. Others posted snake emojis — a digital icon that has plagued Swift since her headline-making feud with Kanye West came to a head last year thanks to Kim Kardashian West.

The speculation comes about two years after Minaj and Swift famously feuded when the rapper spoke out about her lack of a nomination for video of the year at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, attributing the snub to racism in the music industry.

Swift responded to Minaj’s tweet, accusing the star of pitting “women against each other.”

Minaj noted that she made no mention of Taylor, and Swift changed her tune, quickly calling a truce in a follow-up post, writing, “If I win, please come up with me!!” Swift later tweeted an apology to the rap star, writing that she “missed the point” of Minaj’s tweets.

The two seemed to put all the ‘Bad Blood’ behind them, and Swift joined Minaj on the VMA stage in a show-stopping performance. However, Minaj seemed to fuel beef rumors in recent months when she hopped on Katy Perry‘s apparent Swift diss track ‘Swish Swish’ — Perry and Swift have been feuding for years.
