Katy Perry Sort Of Confirmed Her Latest Song ‘Swish Swish’ Is About Taylor Swift

So The Feud Continues

And so, the bad blood continues.  After dropping the new track Swish Swish on Thursday, fans are speculating this is a diss track to Taylor Swift. While Katy Perry has not confirmed it nor denied it, speculation grows and so the feud does.

Talking about fetch

Since Katy Perry announced she’d be releasing a new album this year, people have been speculating about a possible response to Taylor Swift’s Bad Blood, which is reportedly about Perry.

Now, the diva released on Thursday the third track of her forthcoming album Witness, Swish Swish and quickly people assumed the track is totally a diss track to Taylor Swift.

Some strongly believe this based on three clues. First, the track features Nicki Minaj, who had back in 2015 a harsh Twitter battle ahead of the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.

Then, the lyrics have this message of you’re not messing with me. Perry compares herself to a tiger, declaring that one “don’t lose no sleep/ don’t need opinions/ from a shellfish or a sheep.” After claiming herself as a “courtside killer queen,” she proceeds to play more into basketball metaphors on the song’s chorus. “Swish, swish, bish/ Another one in the basket.”

And finally, the visuals read Karma, coffee, and tea. So, yes we’re definitely talking about karma. And coffee?

While Katy’s fans were celebrating the track, one fellow star wasn’t particularly happy about it.

Ruby Rose took to Twitter to air her thoughts on Katy’s music, and defend her friend Taylor Swift, I guess.

“Purposeful poop’ to ‘bomb a petit’ to a sloppy mess of writing over the top of Funkagenda..stop trying to make ‘Wit..I mean ‘fetch’ happen,” the Pitch Perfect 3 star tweeted late Thursday.

Maybe the feud is in out heads

For a couple of years, there’s been rumored that there’s an ongoing feud between Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. It went “official” after a 2014 Rolling Stone interview. Taylor talked about a singer that tried to sabotage her world tour by taking her dancers.

She said at the time, “She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?'”

Then Taylor refused to talk about Katy on interviews. And then Bad Blood dropped and we knew something was going on.

On the other hand, Katy has never confirmed nor denied any of it. Recently, she said in an Entertainment Weekly interview, “There is no one thing that’s calling out any one person.”

Following the debut of Swish Swish, Katy visited The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon and was asked her new song being a diss track.

I think it’s a great anthem for people to use whenever somebody’s trying to hold you down or bully you,” the singer told Fallon, raising her eyebrows.

“That’s kinda what this record is about, it’s just like 360-degree liberation,” she said, referring to her upcoming fifth studio album Witness. “[First single] “Chained to the Rhythm” was this political liberation, [second single] “Bon Appétit” was a sexual liberation and now, I think this is kind of, ‘Swish’ represents the liberation from all the negative that doesn’t serve you.”
