The last season of House of Cards has started production again for its sixth season, Netflix announced on Wednesday. The drama series had been suspended in October after sexual accusations against the protagonist, Kevin Spacey. Spacey was dismissed after this in early November.
This last installment will feature eight episodes, instead of the thirteen to which the fans are accustomed. We’ll see Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear as part of the new cast. Kinnear and Lane will have the role of brothers, according to Variety. Still, we have no details about them.
The complete repertoire of one of the acclaimed and criticized series
Both Kinnear and Lane are Oscar nominees. Kinnear for his performance in As Good as it Gets and Lane for her starring role in Unfaithful. Although Lane also plays Martha Kent in the universe of DC cinema.
With Spacey outside the series, the focus will be on Season 6 of House of Cards. Changing the new main character of the show to Robin Wright, who brings Claire Underwood to life. She will be joined by new people, like Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkison, Patricia Clarkson, Derek Cecil, Constance Zimmer, Scott Campbell and Boris McGiver.
Will someone miss Spacey?
In season 5, actors Clarkson and Scott were introduced. We saw Cecil join in the second season, while the rest of the cast started with House of Cards from the first day. Behind all this, Frank Pugliese and Melisa James Gibson are now in charge of the behind the scenes for the second year in a row. After the creator, Beau Willimon left at the end of season 4.
House of Cards is still part of one of Netflix’s greatest successes, with several awards. Including two Emmys and two Golden Globes. These awards were given since the beginning of the series, no doubt trapped more than one. The fans were decreasing with season 5 and with the lack of Spacey in the series that almost revolved around him, it will be very interesting to see how the last season of this acclaimed series will unfold.
