‘Maniac’ Has A New Trailer And It’s Awesome

“It’s Not Therapy, It’s Science”

Based on a Norwegian series, the black comedy Maniac released a new trailer a few days ago.

Watch it here:

Directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, the show will have 10 episodes. The first thing we saw about Maniac was the teaser, in which Jonah Hill and Emma Stone sat and stared at each other across a table. And even though we knew nothing about it, it still blew our minds.

Pain can be destroyed. The mind can be solved.

Now we even Maniac‘s official synopsis

“Set in a world somewhat like our world, in a time quite similar to our time, Maniac tells the stories of Annie Landsberg (Emma Stone) and Owen Milgrim (Jonah Hill), two strangers drawn to the late stages of a mysterious pharmaceutical trial, each for their own reasons. Annie’s disaffected and aimless, fixated on broken relationships with her mother and her sister. Owen, the fifth son of wealthy New York industrialists, has struggled his whole life with a disputed diagnosis of schizophrenia.

Neither of their lives have turned out quite right, and the promise of a new, radical kind of pharmaceutical treatment draws them and ten other strangers to the facilities of Neberdine Pharmaceutical and Biotech for a three-day drug trial that will, with no complications or side-effects whatsoever, solve all of their problems, permanently. Things do not go as planned.”

So, after reading that and watching the trailer you begin to agree with Stone’s character:

This is some multi-reality brain magic sh*t.

Indeed, it is. But it seems like it’s going to be a crazy, psychological rollercoaster. That’ll be pretty interesting. Also, Emma Stone and Jonah Hill working together again? We just found out, but we needed this! And we’re completely ready for it.

Netflix will be streaming the limited series on September 21.
