‘Coco’ Teaser Brings Us One Step Closer To The Land Of The Dead

It Will Be Released In The U.S. And Canada On November 22

Animation and cartoons always remember us the colorful and beautiful world we live in. As logically when we grow up we start looking at it in a darker way. But that is where the beautiful art and stories of the cartoons come to the rescue

In the world of animation, few are as well known as Pixar and Disney. They have the ability to play with our feeling like clay, dazzle us with incredible colors and details and make us fall in love with all their characters. So when they release a movie you know it will be amazing. Especially now that Disney bought Pixar adding more power.

Coco trailer.

Again, every time Pixar or Disney release a new movie there is a lot of expectation about it. But this year it’s going to be slightly different. They will try a “riskier” approach.

But these bold moves have often come in favor of the animation companies so it will probably be a total hit. As they will release, along with Cars 3, a new movie called Coco. That will explore the Day of the Dead (or Día de Muertos) one of the most colorful and known holidays of the Mexican culture.

Latin color.

The movie aesthetics it’s a bit different and doesn’t have the typical Pixar or Disney look. But still, we know that for sure the color and the art in the film will be gorgeous.

Also, this’s not the first movie that treats this theme and has this kind of twist on the story. As “The Book of the Life” did it back in 2014. So that’s another reason to have a lot of expectative about “Coco” as a reply from Pixar animation skill will surely be impressive.

The story.

As the guys from Pixar revealed on the D23 the movie plot. Coco follows the story of 12-years old Miguel Rivera, who lives in a vivid and loud Mexican village, and whose dream is to become a musician, like his idol Ernesto de la Cruz. But in the Rivera house music is forbidden, as it’s though is has cursed them. Due to a family tragedy involving  Miguel’s great-grandfather abandoned his wife in order to follow his own dreams of performing.

But Miguel’s love for music is stronger leading Miguel to discovers an amazing link between himself and De la Cruz. Also making him more obsessed with his idol and accidentally entering the Land of the Dead. Where he discovers a skeletical friend, a trickster named Hector, and part of his familiy’s story. While Miguel looks for De la Cruz, and his family blessing to become a musician.

The voices.

The movie has also an epic trait that Disney tried out with Moana, as all the voices will be played by Latin-American ascendance actors. As Miguel will be voiced by Anthony Gonzalez, Ernesto de la Cruz by Benjamin Bratt, Hector the trickster by Gael García Bernal and Abuelita by Renée Victor. Also, the fact that Miguel’s dog and companion name is Dante is pretty sweet.

The movie will be co-directed by Monsters University’s Adrian Molina and Toy Story 3’s Lee Unkrich, who developed the concept. Also, it will be produced byToy Story 3’s, Darla K. Anderson. The movie will be released in the U.S. and Canada on November 22, the day before Thanksgiving Day and three weeks after the actual Día de Muertos.
