The Pirelli Calendar Shows Unretouched Beauty And It's Incredible

Stripping away the Hollywood glamor, and showing their unmasked beauty was Peter Lindbergh’s aim for next year edition of the Pirelli Calendar, and the result is exquisite. The 2017’s edition of the Pirelli Calendar was unveiled on November 29th in Paris. The calendar, that was first published in 1964, is only available for Pirelli’s top clients and VIP and has followed over the years a line full of sexuality and facade, but this year is different.

Following the line sat by Annie Leibovitz in last year’s edition, when she portrayed women in a less sexual way, Peter Lindbergh took a rather sensitive, individual and emotional direction. The photographer, who works on the calendar for his third time, shot black and white pictures of actresses make-up free, showing their individuality. The calendar features 40 images of 14 aged award-winning actresses: Jessica Chastain, Penélope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, Rooney Mara, Helen Mirren, Julianne Moore, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlotte Rampling, Léa Seydoux, Uma Thurman, Alicia Vikander, Kate Winslet, Robin Wright, and Zhang Ziyi. Lindberg’s goal was to show real women and remind us of the real and truthful beauty.

Helen Mirren.

The 71 years old English actress, who is one of the few actresses to win the 4 main awards by the same movie, The Queen, was excited about this work. She said “Here, we’re going away from that–let’s find the ‘amazing’ in something that’s human and real.” And is really beautiful.

Robin Wright.

The Emmy award winner actress, and director, also posed for the calendar. Robin, who’s 50 years old, has been for long in the business since she started acting when she was 14 years old.

Lupita Nyong’o.

Mesmerizing picture. The 33 years old Kenyan-Mexican actress, who won an Academy Award for “12 Years A Slave” , also features in the calendar with this intimate picture. Lupita won a Tony Award for her performance in the play “Eclipsed.”

Jessica Chastain.

Chastain, who amazed us with her performance in the huge hit “Interstellar”, posed for this year edition. The actress, who’s 39 years old, was one of the 100 most influential people in the world of Time magazine in 2012.

Nicole Kidman.

The Aussie actress, who’s 49 years old, showed her real beauty to the cameras. Nicole who has a long list of hits during her acting career has also been part of UNICEF since 2006.

Uma Thurman.

Pulp Fiction’s actress showed her age lines proudly, and they only make her more beautiful. Thurman, who’s 49 years old, featured in blockbuster Kill Bill. She said about Peter’s work “I think Peter’s mission with everyone involved wanting to free women from oppressive and false standards is fantastic.”

Julianne Moore.

Julianne, aged 55, has many accolades and awards. The actress recently featured in Hunger Games and the touching drama Still Alice.

Penelope Cruz.

The Spanish actress and model, aged 42, has worked with many directors, and in 2008 had the opportunity to work with Woody Allen, in “Vicky Cristina Barcelona.”

Rooney Mara.

The 31 years old American actress won the Academy Award for The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo.

Kate Winslet.

The English actress and singer, who’s 41 years old, has many awards for her excellent interpretations, including an Academy Award for “The Reader”. She also narrates documentaries and children’s books.
