The nominees for the 74th annual Golden Globes Awards were revealed on Monday, December 12 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. Don Cheadle, Laura Dern, and nominee Anna Kendrick were given the task of giving away the big news.
Jimmy Fallon will be leading this year’s show, that will air live on NBC on January 8, 2017. The nominees aren’t a surprise as most of the films appeared on many lists of the best movies of the year. Of course, everyone has its favorites. Focusing on previous discussions, we made a list of our most likable choices for next year’s Golden Globes:
6. The People VS. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.
The series is based on Jeffrey Tobin’s 1997 book titled “The Run of His Life: The People vs. O.J Simpson”. Premiered in February, the show develops around O.J Simpson and his murder case. The cast lists a wide board of actors such as John Travolta and David Schwimmer. The series has won an incredible amount of awards in its first season and it’s nominated for five Golden Globes.

5. Westworld.
This HBO thriller is said to be “the next Game Of Thrones”. The science fiction was created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. It’s based on two movies and the story takes place in the fictional Westworld which is a technologically advanced, Western-themed amusement park populated completely by synthetic androids. This year was the first season premiered but the contract for season 2 has already been signed. The series is nominated for three Golden Globes Awards.

4. Zootopia.
This is a Disney production so it’s obviously good. Everyone’s been going crazy about it. Directed by Byron Howard and Rich Moore, the film details the partnership between a rabbit police officer and a red fox as they discover a conspiracy that involves the disappearance of predator citizens in their city, metropolis.

3. Moonlight.
This film has given us a lot to talk bout. Written and directed by Barry Jenkins, the film tells the story of a young boy who was bullied and lived with a drug addict. He discovers his sexuality with his best friend Kevin. The protagonist grew up to be a drug dealer and meets his best friend to confess some real messed up stuff. The movie has been received with many awards and is nominated for six Golden Globes.

2. La La Land.
If you are a “Crazy, Stupid Love” fan, this movie is for you and you are hoping it wins. The film stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone and it’s an American romantic musical comedy-drama film written and directed by Damien Chazelle. It was released only a few days ago and already has grossed $5 million. It’s on the run for seven Golden Globes Awards.

1. Manchester By The Sea.
Directed and written by Kenneth Lonergan, the story’s about Joe who’s brother just passed away and he has to take care of his son. Starring Casey Affleck (Joe), Michelle Williams, Kyle Chandler, Gretchen Mol. Joe is forced to return to his hometown where he has to deal with his ex-wife and the community. This movie has five nominations for the Golden Globes but it has been way more acclaimed for the critics.
