According to Us Weekly, insiders of the relationship claim that Chris’ skyrocketing fame might have played a pivotal role.
In recent years Chris became the household name in Hollywood, landing roles in ‘Jurassic World‘ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘ and more. Which came as a U-turn for the relationship.
When they tied the knot in 2009, Anna’s career was on the rise with roles in ‘The House Bunny,’ ‘Brokeback Mountain’ and the ‘Scary Movie’ franchise. Meanwhile, Chris’ hit show ‘Parks and Recreation‘ had just premiered months earlier.
Soon, the situation reversed and Chris nabbed starring roles in hit films.
“Chris became this huge movie star and Anna wasn’t getting any big jobs,” one source tells Us. “She was the more famous and sexy one at the start of their relationship and then things took a turn.”
The source adds that the couple has always been competitive with each other.
“When they’re in a big group, they each want to be the one telling the funniest joke,” the source says.
Another source echoes that Pratt’s newfound A-list status caused problems,“It definitely caused tension in their marriage.”
Anna marriage with Chris was her second marriage. The actress previously divorced actor Ben Indra. In an interview with Marie Claire in 2011, she blamed her success on her divorce.
“That kind of destroyed my marriage. The divide became too great,” she said.
Heartbreaking news
Heartbreaking news flooded the Internet on Sunday when everybody’s favorite Hollywood couple announced their sudden separation.
Anna took to Instagram to share a joint statement on the issue.
“We are sad to announce we are legally separating. We tried really hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed,” it read.
The actress asked for their privacy to be respected and highlighted that they’ll continue raising their son with the deepest love.
Chris followed up with his own version of the statement on Facebook, to which he added, “[We will] continue to have the deepest respect for one another.”
The couple first met on the set of ‘Take Me Home Tonight’ in 2007 and wed in 2009. They have one child together, Jack, who will turn 5 this month.
Last December, Anna opened up about their marriage in a podcast with Isla Fisher, and admitted that they “grappled with a lot of the ideas of being a public couple.”
The ‘House Bunny’ star admitted that life in the spotlight weighed on her relationship with Pratt.

While she said that she tried to ignore it, but “I just remember feeling so hurt in a way that bothered me.”
“I take pride in how great my relationship is with Chris, but having said that, of course, in this crazy world where he’s off doing movies and I’m in L.A. raising our child,” she said.
“Of course I’m going to feel vulnerable like any normal human would.”
“I had always kind of believed that part of the rumors of celebrity couples was sort of true because they had never been part of my life,” she added.
“I was like, ‘Oh, maybe there’s a kernel of truth to that.’ It’s been a little devastating for us.”
Reignited rumors taking the place
The news of seemingly perfect couple split hit their fans hard. We all deal with grief in our own ways, and some fans needed to place the blame somewhere.
That’s how Jennifer Lawrence got dragged into the conversation, again. Rumors swirled around the release of ‘Passengers’ that she and Chris were allegedly having a torrid affair.
That minor mayhem died down fast, but it’s being brought up again in the wake of Chris and Anna’s sad separation.
Jennifer’s being blamed left and right on Twitter for allegedly breaking them up, and she’s absolutely mortified by the accusations.
“Jennifer is horrified that people are blaming her for Chris and Anna’s separation,” a source close to Jennifer told HollywoodLife.
“She’s heartbroken that they’re splitting up and it makes her sick to her stomach that people think she had anything to do with it.”
“The worst part about the rumors is that she adores Anna. She got to know her really well when she did ‘Passengers’ with Chris and considers her a friend.”
