Everything That You Need To Know About This Weekend’s SNL

Its All Fun And Laughs, Until You Realize This Is So Important

Jimmy Fallon returned to Saturday Night Live and delivered a big show. There were lots of music numbers, United Airlines‘ well-deserved backlash, and Anti-Trump campaign that even themed with the holiday.

Saturday’s episode of SNL was a pretty special one, it not only marked Harry Styles’ solo debut as a solo artist but also the very first time the show was broadcast at the same time across the country.

Bigger than a show, this is a party

Those were Jimmy’s confetti-finale opening words. The SNL alum came back for his third time to host the show, and it was quite a show.Saturday’s episode of SNL marked the shows’ first live broadcast from coast-to-coast in the 38 years on the air. It was a celebration and Jimmy made the most of it.

The host was ready to make us laugh and dance and made it clear from the very first moment. During his opening monolog, the comedian started off the show with a musical note and a flash mob style. To David Bowie’s Let’s Dance beat Jimmy introduced the show and also sang. He was joined in the musical euphoria by musical guest  Harry Styles and a crowd of dancers.

After the confetti party, the show was back in business and what followed next was the Donald Trump cold open, of course, to continue the tradition.

Alec Baldwin reprised his Trump impression this time to celebrate his first 100 days as the presidency. But Mike Pence, Brad Beckett, pointed out the President should stop the brawl between his advisors, Steve Bannon, and son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Once the advisors enter the Oval Office it soon becomes an episode of The Apprentice as Trump decided which one of them is leaving. At the end, Trump chooses Kushner, played by Fallon mimicking the outfit he had earlier this month when he visited Iraq.

Going with the holiday

Comedian Melissa McCarthy also reprised her role as Sean Spicer. This time she delivered a special Easter rendition donned with a bunny suit to nail the Anti-Trump campaign.SNL didn’t let Spicer’s awful suggestion on Tuesday, that Adolf Hitler was a lesser evil and that he never used chemical weapons go by.

In a pre-taped sketch, McCarthy’s Spicer said, “Everybody shut up. Shut up so I can apologize. Yeah, you all got your wish this week. Spicy finally made a mistake….”

And then continued, “They were like boo-hoo, what about the Holocaust centers? I know they’re not called the Holocaust centers. I clearly meant to say concentration club. It would be great if the nit pickers didn’t focus on every slur and lie I say.”

And finally said, “You know what, not going to do that. I’m not going there again. You fool me once, right? Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, shame on Jews.”

Leaving nothing out

The big show also addressed the United Airlines incident in its own way. In the Take Me Back sketch, Jimmy Fallon played the role of a devastated dumped boyfriend who tries to win his ex back by bursting with apologies. This goes on and on until we find out the awful truth behind why he was dumped. Turns out Fallon’s character was one of the officers that dragged out the United passenger. Damn.

Harry Styles SNL’s appearance was not only limited to musical guest. The British singer also made the rounds in a sketch in which he played a young Mick Jagger and delivered quite an impression.

On Celebrity Family Feud: Time Travel Edition, Harry delivered a genius impression of Mick Jagger while celebrities from 2017 duke it out with celebrities from 1977. Jimmy Fallon played a young John Travolta.
