Her Rescue Cat Turned Out to Be A “Vampire”

Vampires Are Totally Cute Now

One night in the state of NY, Nicole Rienzie was on her way home with her mom in the car when they saw something and hit the brakes. It was a black kitten that as she told: “He was very, very thin, malnourished, covered in bugs and his eyes were so infected he couldn’t even see out of them.” She added, “We swooped him up and took him home, cleaned him up, fed him and that’s pretty much where it all began.”

Then they started looking for a home but as time passed by she noticed this was no ordinary cat and as herself said: “It was a divine alignment”

This is Monk (short for Monkey) the special kitty, and you can see why. When he start growing up and lost his kitten teeth Nicole noticed something out of ordinary, that his canines were long, very, very long.

His teeth are so long he looks like a real vampire and every witch’s dream black cat. He could perfectly fit in any Halloween special

Monk’s top canines are about three-quarters of an inch long. This means a lot more than the average cat, who’s canines should be about one centimeter, according to Dr. Ladan Mohammad-Zadeh.

So when Rienzie noticed this she was scared and worried about her cat’s health, would he be able to eat with the length of his fangs? Do they produce him pain? So she took him to the vet.

But when the vet told her that everything was ok she relaxed. “It’s rare, but some cats just get really big fangs like that (…) His’ happen to be larger than most cats who grow long fangs, but that sometimes just happens, but there’s nothing wrong with it at all.”

This doesn’t stop people from staring at Monk. “People stop and want to take pictures.” “When they’re speechless it’s hilarious,” said the little vampire cat’s owner.

Monk was such a hit and popular between Rienzi’s friends, and even with random people they ran into, that on 2013, she decided to start an Instagram account for him.

The impact this kitty made in Nicole Rienzi’s life was such that a year after she decided to adopt a brother for Monk. They named it Bean, another black cat that had been living underneath the patio of a former coworker when Rienzie offered to foster him.

But when Bean and Monk hit it off, she knew Bean was there to stay. “They were instant friends,” Rienzie says. “They do a lot of playing, and they’re very, very active,” and they love trashing her house. They love each other so much that they never sleep apart from each other.

And even though Monk is the one that usually gets the attention, Rienzie says that he is very sweet, love giving and that he loves to lick a lot.

As for the fangs go, and something most people worry, Nicole says that they don’t hurt “You don’t even feel them,” when they play and she hasn’t turned into a vampire yet so everything is alright.
