Harry Potter’s Adaptation To Broadway Already Has A Cast

Potterheads Are Dying Over This New Delivery And Some Other Exciting News.

The Broadway adaptation of ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ finally has its cast. Bringing back seven members of the original cast. The play will kick off startimg April 22, 2018.

In other exciting news for Harry Potter fans, J.K Rowling announced two new books of the Wizarding world coming out this fall.

Harry Potter’s ‘The Cursed Child’ is almost set for Broadway

‘The Cursed Child’ is finally coming to America next year, and the return of the original stars is sure to cause extra excitement. The news was delivered by the play director John Tiffany,

“We have assembled an extraordinary cast for Broadway. Our Cursed Child family is growing with twenty-eight brilliant new actors bringing their unique talents to our production,” he started. “I also can’t wait to dive back into it with seven of our original London cast members reprising their thrilling performances for New York audiences. The adventure continues.”

The original trio, Jamie Parker (Harry Potter), Noma Dumezweni (Hermione Granger), and Paul Thornley (Ron Weasley) is all set to reprise their roles in New York.

Also returning are Poppy Miller (Ginny Potter), Sam Clemmett (Albus Potter), Alex Price (Draco Malfoy), and Anthony Boyle (Scorpius Malfoy).

The play, which is divided into two parts meant to be viewed consecutively over two days or in a marathon session, is based on an idea by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany, and Jack Thorne, and written by Thorne.

If that name sounds familiar, it’s because Thorne was just tapped to rewrite Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly‘s script for ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’, which makes him the first writer to have experience in both of those fan-favorite movie universes.

Rowling has previously indicated that ‘Cursed Child’ will be the end of Harry Potter’s story.

‘Cursed Child’ premiered in 2016 in London’s West End, telling the story of the now-adult Harry Potter and his children — specifically his young son Albus. The West End production won a record nine prizes at the Olivier Awards.

The play will begin preview performances at the Lyric Theatre in March 2018, with opening night set for April 22, 2018. Tickets will go on sale Oct. 12, 2017.

Going full Hermione

2016 was definitely a big year for Harry Potter fans, with ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them‘ and ‘Harry Potter and The Cursed Child’ hitting the silver screen and the theatrers. Both stories kind of offered a prequel sort of seuqel to J.K Rowling‘s beloved magic series. And 2017 is definitely being a fine follow-up year as well, for Harry Potter fans.

Not only it marks the 20th anniversary of the original UK publication of ‘Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone,’ it’s also bringing a new exciting slate of Harry Potter books that are something that Hermione would love. The new books will follow the same trailof ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ and show us more of the Wizarding wold, ages before Harry Potter.

‘A Journey Through a History of Magic’ will explore the other elements of Rowling’s magical universe, especially less understood varieties of magic like alchemy and witchcraft.

‘A History of Magic – The Book of Exhibition’ will take readers through subjects studied at Hogwarts.

Each subject area includes a “specially commissioned essay” from people like Steve Backshall, Richard Coles, Owen Davies, Julia Eccleshare, Roger Highfield, Steve Kloves, Lucy Mangan, Anna Pavord and Tim Peake.

Along with the books releasement, the British Library will open the Harry Potter exhibition “A History of Magic,” honoring the 20th anniversary of ‘The Philosopher’s Stone.’ The exhibition is a once in a lifetime collaboration between Bloomsbury, J. K Rowling, and the British Library.

The event promises to be the ultimate Harry Potter reunion for fans. It will have rare books, manuscripts and magical objects from the British Library’s collection, capturing the traditions of folklore and magic which are at the heart of the Harry Potter stories.

Fans will have the chance to marvel at original drafts and drawings by J.K. Rowling and illustrator Jim Kay, both on display for the first time. It will take place on October 20, 2017, till February 28, 2018.

Finally, there’s also another book coming this fall, an illustrated edition of the original third novel in the series ‘Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban.’ The book will be illustrated by Jim Kay, who previously illustrated editions of ‘The Sorcerer’s Stone’ and ‘Chamber of The Secrets.’
