Another one bites the dust as 2016 strikes again. It seems that really this year has something again the people we love and admire. As the grim reaper has taken no holiday’s vacations takings George Michael’s life and now it has covered a new victim.
Sadly it’s Carrie Fisher who died at the age of 60 from a heart attack. And as the legendary actress who played Princess Leia has left us, the tributes in her memory have flooded social media.
Role model.
The character and the actress herself have inspired women, girls, and fans through decades. As many of those who she inspire decided to not only pay her a tribute but as well remember what an influence the character was.
Princess Leia had such a huge impact on me as a child. She was the first female character I looked up to, and always will. #RIPCarrieFisher pic.twitter.com/jNBu5EfPw6

Showing some Leia love.
One particular fan mom decided to post a picture of her daughter dressed as Leia. And ask others to do the same to remember the importance of Fisher’s character, to what several moms responded with adorable photos of their own Leias.
In honor of Carrie post pics of you or your feisty daughters dressed up like Princess Leia. I want to see em all. I’ll start. #CarrieFisher pic.twitter.com/1u63OHRWir

Redefining “princess.”
As well as other fans simply decided to remember Fisher and her character. Paying tribute to the fundamental role it played in their lives. As they posted, along with the picture of their own Leia, an inspirational message of why it was so important for each of them. And how it redefined the concept of a damsel in distress princess to a bad ass one.
RIP Princess Leia. The first person I ever had a crush on. Here is my daughter dressed up like her pic.twitter.com/B8Vi33WRaF

My daughter was not into Disney Princesses or anything like that. But she did and does love Princess Leia. Her Princess Leia hair when young pic.twitter.com/V98Ikt4WyK
