On Tuesday we lost the iconic Carrie Fisher. Known not only for her most representative role as Princess Leia Organa, but the career she made as a writer, who’s work has been taken to the big screen several times. If there is one thing we all can agree is that she left us too soon, but her legacy will always remain.
Fisher had a delightful sense of humor and was a constant defender of feminism. She was born to be a star. Carrie was a brave woman who always raised her voice when it was needed, she believed in everything but fear and that’s a lesson we’ll cherish forever.
Here are some aspects of Carrie that will remind us just a little bit how awesome she was:
15. Her belief in confidence.
“Stay afraid, but do it anyway. What’s important is the action. You don’t have to wait to be confident. Just do it and eventually the confidence will follow.” She said these words when talking about people with mental illness, who are afraid to pursue their dreams.
14. What she thought of her outfits.
“The father who flipped out about it, ‘What am I going to tell my kid about why she’s in that outfit?’ Tell them that a giant slug captured me and forced me to wear that stupid outfit, and then I killed him because I didn’t like it. And then I took it off. Backstage.”
13. The jobs for older women.
Carrie was asked about her role on Catastrophe and the actress answered “I did really want to play an awful person. There are not a lot of choices for women past 27. I don’t wait by the phone.”
12. She never stopped working.
“There is no point at which you can say, ‘Well, I’m successful now. I might as well take a nap.”
11. Her way of facing criticism.
People were talking about how she aged, Carrie confirmed it hurt her feelings but they were getting the wrong idea “Youth and beauty are not accomplishments.”
10. Her partners.
Fisher talks about her personal life with humor, she tells her story in her last book, an autobiography “Wishful Drinking”. In a conversation with Daisy Ridley, she said: “It’s hard to date once you’re a big Star Wars star because you don’t want to give people the ability to say, I had sex with Princess Leia’.”

People always talk about Leia but she’s given us huge roles like April in the famous film “Hannah and her Sisters”.
8. Her reaction to the haters.
She always faced the critics with a dark sense of humor, people talked about her weight and marriage but this feminist just gave them the finger.
7. Carrie really knew how to respond.
There was a time when she was compared to Elton John because of her figure, but here’s what she said: “Blow my big bovine tiny dancer coc*.”
6. Fisher in secondary roles.
We know she can be the greatest main actress but she was very versatile, in the movie “When Harry met Sally” she played Marie and it was just fine.
5. On being a sex symbol.

“FISHER: Listen! I am not a sex symbol, so that’s an opinion of someone. I don’t share that.
RIDLEY: I don’t think that’s the right—
FISHER: Word for it? Well, you should fight for your outfit. Don’t be a slave like I was.
RIDLEY: All right, I’ll fight.
FISHER: You keep fighting against that slave outfit.”
4. How she wanted to leave.
“I tell my younger friends that no matter how I go, I want it reported that I drowned in moonlight strangled by my own bra.”
3. Fisher opened up to the whole world.
She wrote many books, telling us the story of her struggles with drug, alcohol, relationships and even affairs. She wasn’t afraid of people talking about her mistakes since she learned to laugh at them.
2. The bond she shared with her mother.
They were both actresses, Debbie Reynolds passed away a day after her daughter at the age of 84, that’s how you know they were inseparable.
1. Her role as Princess Leia.
This iconic character made of Carrie’s legacy something much bigger than her, she turned the Princess in everything she wanted her to be “Movies are dreams! And they work on you subliminally. You can play Leia as capable, independent, sensible, a soldier, a fighter, a woman in control – control being, of course, a lesser word than master. But you can portray a woman who’s a master and get through all the female prejudice if you have her travel in time, if you add a magical quality, if you’re dealing in fairy-tale terms.”
