Will Ferrell And Jason Momoa Will Perform In New Father-Son TV Show

I Never Saw That One Coming

Like father, like son…or not. Paramount Pictures is bringing a father-son comedy starring Will Ferrell and Jason Momoa. I never saw that coming.

Before seeing them together we’ll see them this summer with two separate movies. Ferrell with Daddy’s Home sequel, and Momoa with Justice League.

Father-son reunion, of some sorts.

Ferrell and Momoa are rather a rare union when it comes to father-son relationships, however, Paramount Pictures acquired an untitled comedy making of this rare union something to watch.

Maybe the unlike union is explained by the movie’s plot. The follows Ferrell as a washed up TV star that reunites with his now grown and very successful TV show son, played by Jason Momoa. That makes sense, sorta.

The studio acquired the pitch from the team of Andy Mogel and Jarrad Paul, who will write the script. The duo created the successful Fox sitcom The Grinder, and they also wrote and directed the comedy Te D-Train.

The production is under Nick Stoller, who worked on Neighbours and Forgetting Sarah Marshall; and Will Ferrell’s company Gary Sanchez.

What are we up to?

According to reports, the pitch is being described by those in the know as Galaxy quest meets Ocean’s Eleven. So, the Galaxy Quest comparison may hint into a washed-up TV star who needs desperately to get their groove back.

Which actually makes sense, we’ve seen Ferrell playing multiple characters trying to keep it cool and not succeeding, such as in Daddy’s Home along with hunky daddy Mark Whalberg. While the Ocean’s Eleven comparison tells us that there may be action and heist element in the project. Which makes the first comparison even strongest.

This makes perfect sense, considering Jason Momoa is more of an action kind of guy, and Will, well, he’s great doing comedy and putting himself in the most ridiculous and weird situations.

So, despite being an odd match, the Ferrell-Momoa collaboration might turn out just fine, considering the success of the Ferrell-Whalberg collaboration in Daddy’s Home.

Both Momoa and Ferrell have one work schedules after the pair finish their current in development projects let’s say within next year. These projects include Ferrell’s Holmes and Watson a comedic take on the Sherlock Holmes franchise. And Momoa’s Aquaman which has just started production.

However, you can see them on screen separately. Jason is premiering Justice League this November, while Ferrell is stepping up his game as a daddy in Daddy’s Home 2, along with Mark Wahlberg also in November.
