From chicken to books

So why the big jump for being fried chicken specialists to publishing steamy romantic victorian novels? Well, it seems that Mother’s Days is the highest grossing day for the world famous franchise. Also, it’s a very bright move to promote KFC’s $20 Fill-Up meal. Since according to an official communicate of the company on Mother’s Day they a 40% jump in sales and serves around 380,000 families.

The communicate said “Mother’s Day is KFC’s best-selling day of the year. Paired with a $20 Fill-Up featuring KFC’s Extra Crispy Chicken, mothers can finally get what they want this year—a family meal they don’t have to cook, and some alone time with a captivating novella”.

Along with that being one of the possible gifts you can give to your mom. Especially if she loves fried chicken and reads romantic novels. The book, as we said before, is free to download on Amazon Kindle since Thursday, May 4th. Also, the brand will be surprising 100 Facebook fans hardcover copies of the book and free dinner.

As even George Felix, KFC’s United States Advertising Director said. “The only thing better than being swept away by the deliciousness of our Extra Crispy Chicken is being swept away by Harland Sanders himself. So this Mother’s Day, the bucket of chicken I get for my wife will come with a side of “The only thing better than being swept away by the deliciousness of our Extra Crispy Chicken is being swept away by Harland Sanders himself. So this Mother’s Day, the bucket of chicken I get for my wife will come with a side of the steamy romance novel”. Giving all the moms around a dinner they don’t have to cook, dishes not to wash, and a good book and some alone time.

Romance down south

The books have already get some reviews on Amazon. Getting an averaging 4.1 out of 5 stars. The book is supposedly written by Colonel Sanders himself. Something we doubt a bit since he has been dead for nearly 40 years. But even more strangely the novel is apparently pretty good. Created by Wieden + Kennedy Portland, which has also been responsible for KFC;s celebrity Colonels the book’s writing is credited to “outsourced author,” Catherine Kovach. A former Bustle.com feature writer who also wrote a historical fantasy called “Evangeline”.

To get you a hint of it here is the sum of the book: “When Lady Madeline parker runs away from Parker Manor and a loveless betrothal, she finally feels like she is in control of her life. But what happens when she realizes she can’t control how she feels? When she finds herself swept into the arms of Harland, a handsome sailor with a mysterious past, Madeline knows she must choose between a life of order and a man of passion. Can love overcome lies? What happens in the embrace of destiny, on the Tender Wings of Desire?”.

Lady Madeleine and the mysterious dark past

Lady Madeline Parker flees from the pending oppression of a loveless marriage, taking a job in a seaside tavern under the cloak of anonymity. She soon meets Colonel Sander Harland, a bespectacled sailor with a mysterious past.

He was tall, dressed like a sailor with a striped linen shirt and woolen peacoat crusted with sea salt. His hair was light and fair, framing his head in airy curls, and the eyes that stared back at her were almost the exact color of the sea, perhaps darker, but not by much, and they hid behind glasses with dark frames“. Obviously, they both quickly become fascinated with each other and have a passionate relationship. Along with a lot of sex.  “They were so consumed that it took every ounce of their restraint not to give into the fire right then and there. The flames would continue to rage throughout the night until the fire was too much, and at last, they could let it engulf them”. So yeah, KFC has a kinky, yet romantic side too.

It soon becomes clear that Lady Parker isn’t the only one fleeing a mysterious and dark past. When Sanders receives an ominous letter, telling him, “It’s time for you to put aside your childish sailing and come back to take up the mantle of Colonel Sanders,” is when things get shaken. Will he return to America in solitude, leaving Lady Parker to live out her love-starved life? Will she forsake their passionate connection and return to the life of high society and low spirits? Sadly your mom, or you, will have to read the book to find out.
