Rihanna teamed up with N.E.R.D in their new song and delivered some pretty serious rap. The musicians took fans by surprise on Wednesday when they dropped the track ‘Lemon.’
Although the song is pretty exciting, since it mark’s the musical return of both musicians, people are losing it over the dancer on the video, Mette Towley.
Rihanna surprises us with her amazing rap in ‘Lemon’
Wednesday marked they day Rihanna and N.E.R.D came together to grace us with a new steamy track, in what can only be called the perfect musical comeback. ‘Lemon’ features Rihanna rapping over the top lyrics while N.E.R.D delivers their funk meets rock unique session. The collaboration comes as a warmly welcomed surprised between the two.
‘Lemon’ was accompanied by a video that follows a girl dancing her way through an indoor market. You can pretty much say this is this year’s equivalent to Kanye’s ‘Fade.’ While Rihanna took fans by surprise, this isn’t the first time she has spit lyrics before.
Earlier this year, she appeared on Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Loyalty,’ from his chart-topping album ‘Damn’. She rapped on 2007’s ‘Lemme Get That,’ a track from her ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ album, and again on 2009’s ‘Rated R’.
N.E.R.D is made up of Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo and Shay Hayley who hasn’t release an album since 2015’s ‘Nothing.’ However, they premiered the track of their yet untitled comeback album on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1.
N.E.R.D’s comeback is amazing, but not as amazing as the dancer in the new video
After a long wait, N.E.R.D delivered quite a comeback by dropping the over the top video of ‘Lemon’ on YouTube. While the song and the video took fans by pleasant surprise, people are losing it over the talented dancer on it.And that’s Mette Towley.
Towley has sent the internet into a frenzy for her furious dancing skills, pretty much what happened last year with Kanye’s ‘Fade’ video and the dancer Teyana Taylor. Towley is part of Pharrell Williams’s dance troupe, which he affectionately calls The Baes.
“Mette is the scary one to me because she walks around with a psychic force,” the N.E.R.D frontman has previously said of his Bae, who he enlisted in 2014. “As a dancer, I think a lot of the times people assume that all you do is count to eight, and maybe your knowledge is only contained in your body and not as much as your mind,” Towley said in a video series for N.E.R.D.
Also, Towley premieres N.E.R.D’s new Training Gear collection with Adidas in the ‘Lemon’ video, because this is honestly perfection.
