Pauley Perrette Is Leaving NCIS After 15 Seasons

It Might Be The Last Season Of The Show

Actress Pauley Perrette confirmed she’s leaving CBS’ series ‘NCIS’ after this season. The actress took to social media to confirm the news. Perrette has longtime played forensic specialist Abby Sciuto on the popular series.

‘NCIS’ is currently in its fifteenth season, following Perrette’s departure news reports say this might be the last season of the show.

So long, Abby

Pauley Perrette who plays fans’ favorite quirky forensic Abby Sciuto on ‘NCIS’, took to Twitter on Wednesday to confirm the rumors that she’s leaving the show after this season.

The actress has been a part of the show since the series first started airing in 2003. She remains as one of the three original cast members at the time. Meaning that her departure would mean a big loss for of the most watched crime dramas on CBS. 

The network and the showrunners were quick to comment on Perrette’s departure.

CBS expressed their gratitude towards the actress and acknowledged her contribution to the show in a statement.

“While it’s never easy saying goodbye to a beloved actress and character, we respect her decision to leave at the end of the season,” it read.

“We are grateful to Pauley for all her contributions to the series and making Abby a unique characters on television.”

Abby will have a legendary exit

They also announced they will prepare a special send-off for Perrette who’s saying goodbye to her role as Abby on ‘NCIS’ after 15 years.

The first to leave the show was actress Sasha Alexander who played agent Caitlin Todd. She was followed by actor Pancho Demmings who played Gerald Jackson until season 3. Then it was actor Michael Weatherly, who played Anthony DiNozzo for 13 seasons.

The show’s executive producers Frank Cardea and George Schenck revealed they will send off Abby Sciuto in grand style.

In a joint statement, the show’s executive producers admitted they knew Season 15 will be the last one for Perrette. They went on to recognize Pauley’s passion on playing a role which inspired millions of fans.

While Perrette is leaving after this season, a recurring character of the first season will reportedly be back. Actor Joe Spano will be back as Gibbs’ FBI counterpart Tobias Fornell.

The last season?

Since news broke on Perrette’s departure it’s been noted that CBS is yet to renew the series.

While the executive producers and the network did not mention ‘NCIS’ will come to an end, there would certainly be more speculation involving the future of the show due to the actress’ departure.

As of writing, there has been no indication that the series will be canceled but the future of the show remains to be uncertain beyond Season 15.
