Apparently 20th Century Fox Is Bringing Back How I Met Your Mother For A Spin-Off

Every Cell In Our Bodies Is Ready For This

Is it time to bring back the gang at MacLaren’s again? On Monday, Dana Walden Fox CEO expressed the network’s intentions to bring back How I Met Your Mother.

Let’s face it since the show ended in 2014, we’ve been mourning the loss of it. The good thing’s that we’re not the only ones anxious about it.

It’s revivals season

Networks these days are all about revivals and reboots. Netflix brought back Arrested Development for a fourth season and a fifth seems to be coming. Gilmore Girls returned with A Year in the Life on Netflix. Will & Grace are coming back this fall and even The x-Files and Prison Break haven’t completely closed the door.

Which makes our hopes for a revival of How I Met Your Mother. After running for nine years and nine seasons, the show really left us wanting more after the controversial twist ending, Ted shows up at Robin’s door.

And fans aren’t the only ones waiting o know more from Ted Mosby and his gang.

“At some point, I would hope we would have the opportunity to reunite those characters and tell new stories if [creators] Craig[Thomas] and Carter [Bays] have the opportunity to do that,” Dana Walden, chairman and CEO of Fox Television Group told reporters on a conference call while discussing the Fox network’s new fall schedule.

Then she added,”I hope we will have an opportunity to revisit these characters and tell these stories if (the creators and stars)  have the desire to do it. It’s a beloved show that still continues to be popular all over the world.”

Yes, it is.

A few bumps on the way

Apparently, Fox is trying to bring back the show through a spin-off from a female point of view. This is not the first time we hear of How I Met Your Mother coming back from a female perspective.

Back in December, it was reported that a spin.off was in the works, however, it was picked up and the whole concept was getting a rewrite from This Is Us co-executive producers Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger.

Nevertheless, bringing back the series would mean significant logical issues.

For starters, creators Carter Bays & Craig Thomas are under a deal on Sony TV. Also, the cast members are doing other things, Josh Radnor is on NBC drama Rise, Neil Patrick Harris is on Netflix Series of Unfortunate Events, and Cobie Smulders is working with the Avengers.

Still, these are scenarios that the cast and crew could work out, just like Wil & Grace proved, co-creator was on a deal and Eric McCormack has a Netflix series.

As people say, where there’s a will there’s a way.
