Frank Ocean Cancels Yet Another Show, This Time The Primavera Sound

Due To “Production Delays Beyond His Control”

Frank Ocean announced that he will not be performing at Primavera Sound Festival next weekend.

The acclaimed singer said that he will no longer headline Primavera Sound. The event takes place in Barcelona. The cancellation is due to “production delays beyond his control,” according to a statement released by the festival.

The artist has apologized and has reiterated his wish to come to Barcelona soon,” the statement reads. The ‘Blonde’ singer and rapper was supposed to perform on Friday, June 2nd. The festival will announce Ocean’s replacement in the coming days. They’re offering single-day refunds to those who purchased tickets for Friday.

Ocean was expected to return to the festival circuit this summer, but the singer has been canceling his performances one after another. All by the same excuse: “production delays beyond his control.” This marks the third successive big festival appearance he has dropped out of so far.

Ocean canceled two other shows earlier this month

The “Thinking About You” performer was set to headline two other festivals in the US this summer but canceled as well, and now the rest of the tour has been thrown into doubt.

First, he dropped out of Sasquatch! Festival, which took place from May 26 to May 28. After the announcement of the cancellation came, the festival soon found a replace. LCD Soundsystem, who just released a couple of new songs and are in the works of their first album since 2010, performed instead of Ocean at the festival in Washington.

Days later, representatives said that he wouldn’t be performing at Hangout Festival, held in Alabama from May 19 to May 21. Ocean was set to headline the opening day, marking his first performance in years, as well. A week before the festival, he canceled and was replaced with Phoenix.

There are still some headlines for the singer ahead. Like Lovebox and Parklife in the UK, and several others in North America. The singer’s next scheduled live appearance is at Northside Festival in Denmark, which takes place from June 9 to June 11. A Reddit user that claims to work at Northside reported that Ocean’s production team told the festival that they will be “ready” for the show.

But due to Ocean’s history, we are not sure if we should believe him.

It’s been three years since Ocean’s last performance

The singer has avoiding live concerts since summer 2014. Back in 2015 he was supposed to headline at FYF Festival, but turned down last minute, only to have it filled by Kanye West.

What got us so excited about this year’s festival season was that Ocean was set to headline many of them. The importance of that lies in the fact that he released one of the best and most important albums of last year.

Following a four-year hiatus, Ocean released a visual album, ‘Endless’, and an LP, ‘Blonde,’ after months of teasing and delays. It debuted at number one and sold 230,000 copies in its first week.

Naturally, everyone got excited by the idea of seeing the artist perform his amazing album live, but we still don’t know when that day will arrive.

Last month, Ocean got his own show at Beat 1, called ‘blonde RADIO,’ in which he has been dropping a series of new tracks, like “Channel,” “Biking” featuring Jay-Z and Tyler, the Creator, and “Lens.” Previously, he was featured in Calvin Harris’ “Slide” along Migos.
