We know that life for animals on the street it’s not easy at all. The roaming, the cold, the famine and tons of other dangers. Sometime even we (humans) become on of those dangers that stray animals have to deal with.
Meet Thomas Trueheart. A kitty that not only has earned that majestic name, but that despite being super playful and lovely, people have been extremely harsh on.
If his life as a stray cat in the streets of California hasn’t been hard enough, he had to deal with some really messed up people, that pour acid on his face and threw him in agony to die. This left him with more than half of his face disfigured and without his right eye.
But not everything has been a bad experience between Thomas and humans. Along the way he made some friends that feed him from time to time. And when he was viciously abused, after days of roaming in pain, he reached the porch of the nice people who were feeding him, who rush him to get the help they could get.
The vet didn’t seem to know very well what he was doing, although we think he had the best intentions. They simply gave Thomas some antibiotics, tested him for FIV+ (feline immunodeficiency virus) and suggested that he should be put to sleep.
The kind people who were helping the puss didn’t took that answer and tried to reach help through social media. And that’s when the hard working team of Milo’s Sanctuary, a non profit organization that specializes in caring for blind and disabled cats, jumped in.
They took Thomas to a capacitated vet that gave him, for over a month, the appropriate pain medication, antibiotics and sugar bandages to help him heal. As well they suggested a skillful surgeon that did an amazing job leaving him as pretty as he was.
Even though some horrible humans almost ruined his life, Thomas still gives love, kisses and plays with every person that approaches him. This was one of the things that impressed more the people that helped him in his healing process.
Now his moving story has gone viral, specially through Facebook, due to the work of a L.A. based photographer named Casey Christopher and his photo-series named “The Beauty of Blind Cats” that was made with the cats of Milo’s Sanctuary, where he heard the story of Thomas. So now he works with Milo’s volunteers by spreading the voice and creating a crowd-funding page for this beautiful kitty. Thomas Trueheart lives in a Lifetime Care Foster and anyone can help him.
