David Grohl and his daughter shared the sweetest moment on Father’s Day when the Foo Fighters frontman invited her onstage during a concert in Iceland to play drums.
The band just announced the release date for their new album along with tour dates.
There’s another Grohl on the drum set now
Dave Grohl is quite renowned for unexpected happening during his live shows with Foo Fighters. Whether he’s falling off the stage or playing through the pain of a broken leg, something always seems to be going on with Grohl when he starts to perform.
On Sunday, coincidentally Father’s Day, he delivered the proudest dad moment as he performed in Iceland with his eight-year-old daughter Harper.
Harper proved to be an avid musician just like her father, who not only is the Foos frontman but former Nirvana drummer.
Daughter and father jammed at Queens classic ‘We Will Rock You,’ which is the first song Harper learned. The performance came after Dave explained how she had asked to learn how to play the drums.
“About two weeks ago, my daughter said, ‘Daddy, I want to play the drums.’ And I said, ‘Ok— you want me to teach you?‘ and she said ‘Yes,'” Grohl told the audience.
” Then I said, ‘Do you want to get up in front of 20,000 people in Iceland and play?‘ And she said ‘Yes,'” he added.
Harper is Dave’s second daughter of three with wife Jordyn Blum. The pair is also parents to Violet, 11, and two-year-old Ophelia.
Her performance won Queen‘s approval as the band tweeted a video of the performance.
As her dad put it: “There’s another Grohl on the drum set now.” Way to go Harper!

Concrete and Gold
On Tuesday, the Foos announced that their new album will be out on Rowell/RCA Records on September 15.
Along with the release date of their ninth album, the band announced a new set of fall tour dates. The Foo Fighters will embark on a fall tour in support of Concrete and Gold October 12th with a previously announced – and sold out – show at the Anthem in Washington D.C. The tour will wrap up December 12th in Salt Lake City.
Concrete and Gold follows the Foos’ 2014 album Sonic Highways, and their 2015 follow-up EP Saint Cecilia. The band recorded the new album at Hollywood’s EastWest Studios with contemporary pop stalwart Greg Kurstin, who has worked with Adele, Sia, Pink and more.
Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl said he became a fan of Kurstin through his indie pop duo, the Bird and the Bee, and thought his pop pedigree would create an interesting challenge for the Foo Fighters.
“So I think maybe Greg is the guy that we ask to be our producer because he’s never made a heavy rock record before and we’ve never worked with a pop producer,” Grohl said.
The musician described the combination of their styles as, “Our noise and Greg’s big brain and all of his sophisticated arrangements and composition.”
“I wanted it to be the biggest sounding Foo Fighters record ever. To make a gigantic rock record but with Greg Kurstin’s sense of melody and arrangement… Motorhead’s version of “Sgt. Pepper”… or something like that,” he added.
The album was mixed and engineered by Darrel Thorp, who previously worked with Beck and Radiohead.
Unveiling new songs and festivals
Earlier this month, the Foo Fighters released a new single and video, ‘Run’, for their ninth studio album.
The new release put fans into a frenzy and waiting for more new sounds of the legendary band. And the Foos have delivered.
So far we’ve heard three of the new songs. The first single from the album “Run,” and the band recently unveiled two new songs in a live show.We’ve already heard a handful of new Foo Fighters songs over the past few weeks as the group has rolled out fresh tunes at shows, including “Run,” “La Dee Da” and “The Sky is a Neighborhood.”
Previously the band had unveiled the single “The Sky is a Neighbourhood” on a show, and on Sunday they did it again. They graced Sunday’s show with a fresh tune “La Dee Da.”
They will most likely continue dropping new singles in concerts, which is actually the cherry on top for a Foos performance.
The band is heading back to Glastonbury this weekend. They’re set to headline the annual event which is basically their second home.
Then in October, the band will headline Cal Jam 17 at the Glen Helen Regional Park.
The festival is named after the original California Jam, a 1974 fest featuring Black Sabbath, the Eagles, Deep Purple, Emerson, Lake and Palmer and more.
The massive one-day event lineup also features Queens of the Stone Age, Cage the Elephant, Liam Gallagher, the Kills, Royal Blood, Japandroids, Wolf Alice and Bob Mould.
