Heavy Metal isn’t just one of the most popular Rock genres in the world it’s also one of the most technical and skill demanding one. Since it’s high tempo and aggressive sound really demand the best of the musicians playing. That’s why when a 12-year old break into the scene it really surprises us. Especially due to the talent of the kid. But it kind of makes sense since it’s the son of Metallica’s bassist Robert Trujillo. Since this little wonder kid called Tye is playing with legendary guys from Korn.
Tye has joined Korn the claimed band for their South American tour. Due to Korn’s long-time serving bassist Reginald “Fieldy,” Arvizu couldn’t join them due to an “unforeseen circumstances”. But even though “Fieldy,” will surely be missed for many fans, Tye has stepped up and has been doing a very awesome job.
Kicking up the bass
Tye has been really kicking up the bass and with a lot of skills. No one gets to play with Korn for free. As Tye has been doing it incredibly well on his chance with Korn. As he gets in the mood, but still in a very focused way, when he gets on stage. He has even impressed Robert. “It’s a beautiful thing, ’cause he’s still a 12-year-old and he still acts wild and crazy, as a 12-year-old should, but when it comes to music, he’s very focused,” he said.
He hasn’t only impressed his father he has also got praised by his temporal bandmates. As guitarist James “Munky” has congratulated him and said that he has slowly learned to handle his new found fame. “When we go to the shows, he’s got people wanting his picture and his autograph – he’s a little overwhelmed, but he’s handling himself just like his dad, which is cool, collected and modest”.
What a rad moment! Father & son jamming together with us last night! 🎥by @abelvallejo @robtrujillo @tyetru @munky_korn @brianheadwelch @korn_official @metallica #korntour2017 #korn #metallica #bigrockshow #familyiseverything #fatherandson #lima #peru #blind
But on Korn’s most recent presentation Tye and his father, Robert, joined the band. It all took place in Lima, Peru on April 29th. Since Korn was starting to play “Blind,” from their debut album but with the surprise for the fans as they got a Trujillo tag team. To what Munky praised Tye’s talent. “It’s good, we’re having fun! He’s having a great time. His dad’s out here with us, just hanging out, shootin’ the shit and catching up. [Tye] knows like 17, 18 Korn songs, and he knows them really well – it’s crazy.
All the stops, and the breaks… it’s crazy to see somebody that young so talented. He’s gonna be a professional musician, and to know that at that early of an age is just inspiring.” Sadly this also means the end of Tye participation with the band, as the South American tour ended. Korn will rejoin “Fieldy” at the Carolina Rebellion festival in Concord, N.C., on May 6th and will keep on touring on the U.S.
