Check Out ‘Sir’ David Beckham In Guy Ritchie’s New ‘King Arthur’

It Seems This Is Not The Same Old Tale

This year, and particularly this month, is packed with awesome movies. One of the most awaited ones is “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword,” directed by Guy Richie. Even though it already has an incredible cast, by having Jude Law and Charlie Hunnam it will count with an atypic celebrity on it. Since David Beckham will appear in the film, in a small role.

This has obviously peaked the interest on the short-coming film, as it will premiere on the 12th of this month. Along with the expectation to see what Richie will do with the classic British folk tale. Since he is known to take a lot of creative and artistic liberties when tackling a classic story. As he showed previously with the “Sherlock Holmes” saga.

Sir David Beckham

Even though Beckham is a Sir, we all are waiting to see if his skills with a sword are as good as with a ball. As we want to see what he will do in his small role on the film by Richie. Since the football and modeling icon David Beckham and the British director Guy Ritchie have great friends for a while. Also, it’s not the first time both will work together. Richie has done several commercials for the ex-Real Madrid and Manchester United star. Especially to promote his lines for H&M and Haig Club whiskey.

But it won’t be the first time that favor is turned around. Since Becks has also had appeared, briefly, in “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.,” Ritchie’s last film. So another appearance of him on the next movie of the British director makes perfect sense. Also, if we recall that Beckham is a great entrepreneur always looking ways to expand his incoming and talent, a new acting career on Hollywood doesn’t sound bad at all. He certainly has the looks and the right contacts to do so.

Many fans have been craving to see what’s going on with Beckham with his role on the film. As he has been posting pictures of him wearing a medieval armor and after the makeup for his character, ugly teeth, and scars, is already on Instagram. Generating a lot of expectation. But despite the hype, David knows he must start from the bottom and earn his place in the starting-11 of the big screen. So will have another small role in the movie, (SPOILER ALERT) as a Blackleg leader and disgruntled knight who attempts tries to pull out the legendary Excalibur from stone but fails miserably.

Along with that, David isn’t apparently the only Beckham that will be in the film. It seems his oldest son, Brooklyn, will also have a small role in the movie. Since he was seen in an on-set with cast and crew group shots shared by Ritchie on his Instagram. But this isn’t the only good news for the Beckhams, as it looks like Warner Bros. plan to have another three or six-film series if the movie turns out to be a hit. Focusing on other key characters and aspects of the Arthurian legend. So it could definitely be the start of a shining acting career for the Beckhams if they want to pursue it.

All about the film

“King Arthur: Legend of the Sword” will be a totally new version of the classic story of King Arthur. Since it has a bit of a turnaround for what we can see in the trailer, with a touch of “The Lion King” and “The Prince and the Pauper”. Following Arthur (Charlie Hunnam) as a young boy who is raised and lives on the rough streets. Before learning that he is actually heir to the throne. Stolen from him for his wretched uncle Vortigern (Jude Law) who also murdered Arthur’s father when he was a child. All of it before Arthur pulls out the legendary and magical sword, Excalibur, of the stone and changing his life forever. As he has to face his destiny likes it or not.

This isn’t the typical Arthur, as we can see. Even Hunnam describes as a more common guy than an aristocratic king.  “He’s sort of a regular chap, you know. He doesn’t see himself as anything particularly special, other than his uncompromising will to survive. If anything, he’s ignoble when we first met him – he’s running a whorehouse and some protection rackets.

He’s not, I guess, the typical humble introverted Arthur that you’ve seen before, he’s a bit of a likely lad from the streets … very self-serving. One of the big journeys he goes on in the film is learning to be less selfish.”With this plot twist like this, we can see Ritchie’s touch on the storyline. Proving again that he never sticks 100% loyal to the old classic. As he adds his liberties and “poetic licenses”.

So this movie is no exception. As Richie takes Arthur out of the English countryside and into “Londinium”, a 7th-century urban landscape of post-Roman ruins. As the soon-to-be King of England is adopted by prostitutes from a brothel on London Bridge and raised on the streets.
