Josh Brolin is getting ready for taking his duties as ‘Cable’ in the upcoming ‘Deadpool 2.’ In preparation for the role, he has been spending a considerable amount of time at the gym, and now he’s totally ripped.
The 49-year-old actor is in the best shape he’s been in his entire life. It comes as no surprise since the Marvel character is a totally jacked mutant with a bionic arm. Seriously, the guy is huge. So Brolin’s efforts have been truly tough to actually resemble the time-traveling warrior.
The actor – who is known for his dramatic roles in films like ‘No Country for Old Men’ and ‘Milk’ – even changed his hair to match his character’s look. Give him a massive gun and there you have it, a breathing, living Cable.
You can take a peek at Brolin’s progress through his many Instagram posts at the gym. You can actually feel the pain just by watching.
Drop sets to the point where you can't even lift the weight of your own arms. @justindlovato is my friend…usually, but when he pushes me close to tears, I know, deep inside, that he actually wants to play Cable even more than I do. #friendswhotortureotherfriends #FuckingBrolin #fuckingcable #ryanreynoldsismybitch @iambuilt @goldsgym #100%clean
A good trainer, diet, discipline, and a little competition
Naturally, to get as ripped as Brolin, you need to put a lot of effort and make some sacrifices. In a recent post on Instagram, he thanked his trainer and sponsors, and even mentioned he saw Dave Bautista at the gym and he said: “What the f*ck happened to you?!”
Quietly, the "Team" is killing it. It takes a small village: @justindlovato at @iambuilt, Jonathon Phillips @hbmaxmuscle, @goldsgym and some discipline. Just saw @davebautista at the gym and he said: "What the f*ck happened to you?!" Haha. Best compliment ever. Totally clean: no sugar, no breads, no pastas, no drugs, none of it. Fish, rice, eggs, veggies, water, one @bulletproof or @cavemancoffeeco in the morning. I'm almost 50. It's a different time: our access along with some big picture discipline results in always surprising milestones. Get on the train. #wedontfuckaround. #itaintthathard #startslowandlight @weprevail #ryanreynoldsismybitch
He also shared his really strict “clean” diet: “no sugar, no bread, no pasta, no drugs, none of it. Fish, rice, eggs, veggies, water,” and especial coffee in the morning.
“I’m almost 50. It’s a different time: our access along with some big picture discipline results in always surprising milestones. Get on the train,” he also wrote in the caption. He ended the post with a number of hashtags, including “#wedontfuckaround” and, most notably, “#ryanreynoldsismybitch.” He has used that one a couple of times, actually.
Brolin’s co-star Ryan Reynolds is known for his very impressive physique, which has helped him a lot in his role as Deadpool. But now that Brolin is a massive bunch of muscles, he just wants to troll Reynolds for a while.
