Transformers The Last Knight: All We Know About The Movie

The 5th Installment Of The Franchise, Seems As Promising As Its Previous Films.

Transformers has been one of the most popular and successful movie franchises in recent times. To the point, that it will be reaching its 5th installment, “The Last Knight”.  The blockbuster series has earned around $3.7 billion worldwide to date. And even though ticket sales in the USA have fallen slightly with recent sequels, the international box office has shown upward momentum. So if there is one thing certain is that there will be more Transformer movies.

Even though there are still some days left before the movie premiers in June, there are a few things we truly know about the film. Take a look:

5. Longer than ever

According to Heroic Hollywood, the fifth movie installment of the saga lasts as much as 3 hours and 2 minutes. Just 19 minutes shorter than reigning “long-lasting” genre champion “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” (3 hours and 21 minutes in its original theatrical cut). This is something that we’ve been getting used to since every Transformer follows up has last longer than the previous one.

In 2007, Transformers ran a relatively slim 2 hours and 24 minutes. Then its 2009 sequel lasts 2 hours and 30 minutes, while the 2011 movie added 4 minutes to that tally. On 2014 “Transformers: Age of Extinction” exceeded the previous three with 2 hours and 45 minutes running. Even though Michael Bay, said that the film won’t be that long, we still have to wait and see.

4.Michael Bay is still in charge

Michael Bay has been the face of the Transformers franchise, directing and executive producing the films of the inspired-by-toys franchise in 2007. All along with Paramount. Even though many thought Bay wouldn’t be on charge for this installment since the last one drop a little he will stick around for another 5th movie, and probably more to come.

Bay put a little more thought and effort into the story on this one, and it’s not just the explosions. As they got a TV like writing room for the developing of the story. Also, there are many hints that will dazzle fans. Including a supposed return from Megatron and the featuring of the Combaticons.

3. The title could be a hint about crossovers

Shared universes are all in vogue right now, as they have proved to be a very successful system. We have X-Men at 20th Century Fox, DC Comics at Warner Bros., and Marvel Comics at Disney. So if Transformers applies the same method it would seem not only fair but also very credible. Taking into consideration that they’re intergalactic alien-robots and that there are some incredible fan theories. Especially some very credible ones outlined in Forbes.
One theory is rooted in one of Hasbro’s other action-figure franchises with a movie already planned: Rom the space knight. Toy fans will know that Rom is able to travel through space and is the last of a race of knights making this idea fit just a little too perfectly. This along with the fact that Hasbro is planning a shared Cinematic Universe with Micronauts, G.I. Joe, M.A.S.K., and the Visionaries. So why wouldn’t they add Transformers and Rom to it?

2. New cast members

The key members from previous films are still here. With director Michael Bay, replacing the original Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox, for actors Mark Wahlberg mainly and Josh Duhamel. But Bay has still added some human co-stars who are able to run, fight and scream alongside Wahlberg.
On the new additions, there is comedian Jerrod Carmichael, who will be joining with the young Nickelodeon star Isabela Moner and also Tyrese Gibson. But perhaps the most interesting addition is the film series is cinematographer Jonathan Sela whose credits include cult hits like “John Wick” and “A Good Day to Die Hard” among others.

1. King Arthur’s legend

According to the BBC, scenes for Transformers: The Last Knight are being filmed on the Isle of Skye. Where the Arthurian legend takes place. As several actors were spotted riding horses and wearing medieval props, which seems to lend back up the belief of previous rumor reported by CinemaBlend that suggested the story of the movie would somehow tie into Arthurian legend.

Maybe the Transformers were somehow summoned by Merlin. Who at the same time could be played by Anthony Hopkins, who is in the cast and would be perfect for the role. Also, it will also be another link to the “Knight” part of the title of the film. But until the movie comes out we will have to wait and see. Transformers: The Last Knight is scheduled to land in U.S. theaters on June 23, 2017.
