Actor Mark Salling Pleads Guilty to Federal Child Porn Charges

He Admitted Downloading over 25,000 Photos And 600 Videos

Mark Salling admits that in the past 2015 he dedicated himself during several months to download hundreds of images of pornographic content that involved minors.

Guilty in child porn case

The actor who played “Puck” in the television series “Glee” pleaded guilty to federal charges of child pornography. He admitted to possessing more than 25,000 photos showing children performing sex acts. Also, 600 videos and 29,000 erotic photographs. The announcement was made on Monday by the California Department of Justice.

Salling, of 35 years old of Shadow Hills, agreed to a plea agreement with federal prosecutors. As part of that agreement, presented in October, he declared that the images he downloaded in 2015 were protected with software designed to hide his illegal activity.
The agents found a collection of child pornography on a laptop and a hard drive and a USB stick. The actor’s girlfriend at the time informed them. She found out because he had shown her some of the images.
He did that “in the context of their sexual relationship,” the Los Angeles Times reported, citing information from the authorities.

He reached an agreement of four-seven years

Salling was arrested in December 2015. A search warrant was served at his home in Sunland by the LAPD Internet Crimes Against Children working group. He admitted to having a large collection of child pornography in October when he agreed to plead guilty to the charges.
The crime carries a minimum sentence of twenty years. Prosecutors and legal representation of Salling reached an agreement of a “proper sentence”.  The sentence would be from four to seven years in federal prison. Then 20 years of “supervised release”, according to a press announcement. He will also be asked to register as a sex offender.
Salling’s sentencing schedule will be March 7th. Judge Otis Wright of the US District has the option to issue a prison sentence outside that range.
“If Judge Wright decides to impose a sentence outside the agreed upon range, either party will have the option to withdraw from the agreement,” says a press release from the justice department.
Also, you must pay 50 thousand dollars to each of the victims. All as long as they request it. He has to agree not to communicate with children under 18 years of age. Unless the parents or guardians of the same are present.
