Many great artists have had an abrupt death at the peak of their success and youth, that has turned them into legends. Heath Ledger is a perfect case of just as Cobain, Joplin, Winehouse, Morrison and many others.
As the incredible Australian actor left us in 2008, a documentary to honor his life and trajectory will be released online in May this year. Obviously, the trailer is heart touching. Since it remembered us why we loved Ledger, how bad we miss him and what a great job he did.
I Am Heath Ledger
As the documentary shows interviews with Ledger’s family members, friends, Hollywood peers, and co-workers. All talking about their personal experiences with Heath and sharing how he was.
The trailer for the documentary, that will be titled “I Am Heath Ledger,” shows clips of the interviews with many childhood friends of Ledger, his sister, Kate, model Christiana Cauchi, actor Ben Mendelsohn, director Ang Lee, and musician Ben Harper, with whom he founded record label, Masses Music.
Since Ledger passed away on 2008 due to a prescribed medication overdose, he left many memorable and vanguardist performances. Being the most memorable ones his roles at “The Dark Knight,” and “Brokeback Mountain.” That granted him many awards. Even though his last brief, but incredible, role was on “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.”
As director Ang Lee says on the video: “Even as a supporting actor he will steal the whole show. That’s the power of Heath Ledger.” Along with Australian actor Ben Mendelsohn’s statement: “Before Brokeback Mountain came out it would have been unthinkable to have a romantic tragedy involving two gay cowboys. This is one of the biggest heartthrobs on Earth taking on that character – that’s an artist.”
Heath’s work
Most of the documentaries footage was filmed by Heath himself. Since his love for the films is remembered as something that defined him, as Cauchi says: “There were always cameras around, a video camera, a Polaroid camera or the film camera. That’s the only way I think of him.”
We hope the documentary talks about Heath’s other aspects, such as his artistic life. Since besides acting, he loved to direct and music. He even produced several music videos, including his associate and friend Ben Harper’s “Morning Yearning,” and N’fa’s “Cause and Effect.”
