Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and we’re all getting in the mood. Nothing better to get all prep up than watching movies, so we bring you a list with some of the best love stories we see on the big screen.
Because we’re always down for a good love story. We bring you teenage love, unrequited love, loyal love, unexpected love, love in all its presentations and definitely with a lot of romantic moments.
10. When Harry Met Sally (1989).
Sometimes we fall for a friend, and well sometimes we gladly discover they have feelings for us too. The 1989 movie follows two friends, Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal, who are trying to figure it out and face the fear of ruining their friendship if they have sex.
9. 10 Things I Hate About You (1999).
Teen love portrayed at its best by Julia Stiles, Heath Ledger, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. A rebel girl starts dating a bad boy without knowing he’s being paid for it. Obviously, they fall for each other and well sometimes love works it out, luckily this story is one of those times.
8. Never Been Kissed (1999).
Geeky Drew Barrymore goes undercover to high school and falls for her English teacher, Michael Vartan. No there’s no inadequate student-teacher relationship because she comes clean and finally, they share a romantic kiss in a baseball match.
7. How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days (2003).
Sometimes the craziest bet takes you to the best places, this is the case for ambitious ad executive Matthew McConaughey and writer Kate Hudson. The couple gets into a relationship without knowing each other’s objectives which represent a little of a problem, since she wants to ditch him and he wants to make her fall in love. At last, love wins!
6. Pretty Woman (1990).
Some people do find their prince charming and for the prostitute played by Julia Roberts, it was billionaire Richard Gere. Diamonds and all!
5. You’ve Got Mail (1998).
In some cases, you fall for the one you least expect to, as it happened to Meg Ryan who exchanged e-mails with a mysterious man who turns out to be her direct competition in the library business, Tom Hanks conquers all, right?.
4. Love Actually (2003).
The movie follows different stories of Londoners looking for love the month before Christmas, and boy they find it, in unexpected people and places, but they do. Liam Neeson, Emma Thompson, and Hugh Grant are some of the many stars featuring the movie.
3. No Strings Attached (2011).
Like many others, a guy and a girl try to keep things physical but fall for each other at some point. There is a fair share of cuteness that involves corny cards, carrots instead of flowers, and even a period mix. Yep, Ashton Kutcher is the one to do that to his love interest Natalie Portman.
2. Casablanca (1942).
A man must choose between his love or help the Czech Resistance leader and portrays a beautiful love story with all the black and white glam of the age. Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman feature the masterpiece.
1. The Notebook (2004).
When it comes to love and romance Nicholas Sparks is most likely the master. Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams set the goals for generations when it comes to love with the story of a couple that falls in love in the 40s.
