This year has been weird. It has had many ups and downs, especially the downs. And for the music industry hasn’t been different. Particularly since all the famous and legendary musicians who have passed away. But that is just how life is and you have to shake it up and move on.

Besides the amount of tributes that have been in memory of this stars have not only been incredible. But as well they’ve reminded us why they are stars. All of this, the tributes and the stars themselves, have been through covers. The tributes have covered the fallen stars music. The legends started by simply playing covers of their favorite bands. As probably the next big thing is doing probably right now in his/her room.

So here we are going to leave you with some of the best covers that happened in 2016.

10. Slaves – “The Hills” by The Weeknd

In the version of Slaves of one of the songs that made popular The Weeknd, you can feel a different energy. Not only by the energy and power that they apply to the song. But as well due to Isacc Holman’s sinister voice that makes you cringe.

9.Jake Bugg – “If I Could Change Your Mind” by HAIM.

Jake Bugg strips down “If I Could Change Your Mind”. Besides, he adds his characteristic and raw emotional voice. The version of Bugg makes you feel totally intimate with it, and would perfectly fit in any sad moment of any movie.

8.Christine and the Queens – “Sorry” by Beyonce.

The cover by Christine and the Queens is a wonderful version of  “Sorry.” It really has that special something that makes you feel happy, and intimate but yet gets you pumped and going. Besides, it keeps it’s dancy beat with the synths.

7.Biffy Clyro – “Tilted” by Christine and the Queens

This cover by the Scottish band is amazing. Besides it challenges the singer Simon Neil’s to sing, speak and pull out his best French skills. The guitar and the way they give their personal touch to the song turn it into a tender version of Christine and the Queens’ song.

6.Lianne La Havas and Coldplay – “Sometimes It Snows In April” by Prince

As we said before this year was full of passing away legends and covers to pay tribute to them. One of those was Prince, someone who La Havas dearly respected, admired and was a dear friend with. On the cover, you can see the emotion and beautiful tenderness and honesty she shows on the song. And remembering us the talent Prince had to write.

5.Lady Gaga – “Bowie Grammy tribute”

After Bowie passed away famous fans joined to pay tribute a tribute to the incredible artist that had influenced them. But if you think of one that has a particular Bowie style or that he had made a mark on was Gaga. Who pull out an incredible performance at the Grammy’s. Even tough Bowie’s son didn’t like it.

4.The Temper Trap – “Multi-Love” by Unknown Mortal Orchestra

The Temper Trap added to the songs some incredible vocals. As well as a completely different touch, and style, to their cover of “Multi-Love.”

3.Norah Jones – “Everybody Knows” by Leonard Cohen

You can’t go wrong with either, Norah or Leonard. An incredible tribute played brilliantly by Norah Jones who made this amazing jazzy and classy tribute to the legendary Leonard Cohen.

2.Jamie T – “The Sound” by The 1975.

Jamie T was able to create a dorky and awkward version of the 80’s style dance song by The 1975. As well an incredible mix by two of the biggest artists of 2016. As you can see a bit of the Matty Healy attitude in Jamie’s performance.

1.The Rolling Stones – “I can’t Quit You Baby” by Otis Rush.

It’s The Rolling Stones doing an amazing cover of this amazing song, what else do you need us to say? This perfectly cool and blues song leaves you feeling that you’re the king of the world.
