Nicole Kidman is one to impress, and Giada De Laurentiis’ pizza didn’t. On Wednesday, the actress joined the celebrity chef and Ellen in a food segment on The Ellen Show. Things turned out unexpectedly when Nicole spat the pizza.
The awkwardly funny moment wasn’t the only one in the show. The Australian actress also discussed her incredible good year and new projects.
A tough cookie to crumble.
Live cooking segments on television can be awkward at the best of times. From impromptu burning to the classically cringe: “Here’s what I made earlier.” This happens to even the most popular personalities in television, including Giada De Laurentiis as we witnessed on Wednesday.
The celebrity chef dropped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show to promote the new season of Food Network Star. Once there, the chef featured a food segment alongside Nicole Kidman and Ellen herself. It was hilarious and not impressive at all.
The celebrities did their best to whip up some arancini and focaccia in the awkward cooking lesson and failed hard.
Things got off from the start when De Laurentiis poked fun at the Oscar-winning actress as they were trying to make rice balls. She said, “Oh my god, the woman who can’t cook made the perfect ball.”
Then Nicole asked the chef cooking questions that went unanswered. Things continued to heat when they started making the clementine pizza and finally tried it.
When Nicole and Ellen tried the pizzas, the Aussi actress was not shy to spit it out because, well, it was gross as Ellen’s face soon confirmed.
The host and the Aussie actress kept laughing at the hilarious yet awkward moment. Kidman said, “It’s a little tough. I know you’re not meant to criticize. But it’s a little tough. Don’t let my kids see I did that.”
Ellen soon jumped in and laughed almost choking on her food.
Later on the show, Nicole and Ellen proved the actress has improved her clapping skills and can actually clap. The internet was flooded with Nicole’s clapping memes after the actress awkwardly clapped during the Oscars.
Talking of a mesmerizing return
This year started off on an extremely high note for Kidman, who’s having quite a Kidmanaissance.
It all started with the HBO hit Big Little Lies. Nicole made a phenomenal performance of Celeste, a retired lawyer in an emotionally and physically abusive relationship. Her heartbreaking performance is most likely to earn her an Emmy nomination and a subsequent win.
This has been her more recent success and has made us all re-examine her career. One would consider that she’d be one of the most noticed celebrities, however, according to the actress Celeste’s role has made people recognize her everywhere.
“It just really started to snowball, and the great thing was because it was on HBO, everyone had to wait each week to see the next episode,” Kidman told Ellen DeGeneres. “Then I was suddenly being recognized in airports and airplanes, and women were coming up to me on the street and talking about the character and what was going to happen next.”
This comes as a funny news. The actress has been in the business for over two decades and has even won an Oscar.
She then explained that her portrayal of Celeste has had quite a quite an effect on people. “I haven’t had a film that’s really kind of penetrated into the psyche of the world for a long time,” Kidman explained. And she’s right, her portrayal of Celeste was extremely raw and powerful.
