Tha host stopped for a moment to talk about her dearest friend, she shared some beautiful words towards Fisher and then proceeded to show the video with beloved memories of the Star Wars actress when she was on the show.
Ellen loved having Carrie around.
The actress was a regular appearing at her show, the last time she was there was about a month before her death.
De Generes showed her appreciation for the talented Fisher.
Ellen opened the tribute with a brief speech about her friend “I knew her for a long time. She has been on the show many times and the last time was just a month ago. I loved when she was here. She made me laugh so hard. She was smart, funny and hilariously honest about herself and the world around her.”
The memory of Princess Leia.
Carrie was known for playing the iconic role of Princess Leia Organa in the Star Wars saga. The character became a sex symbol and eventually Fisher had a hard time detaching away from it “It follows me around like a vague, exotic smell,” she said in an interview with Ellen.
They talked about Fisher’s famous mother.
The actress and writer was the daughter of a musician and one of the greatest actresses in the industry, Debbie Reynolds. In the show, DeGeneres showed a picture of the two actresses together having fun, later they joked about the fact that Debbie lived next door to her daughter. They were extremely close, to the point Reynolds passed away a day after Carrie. Her son said the cause of her death was Carrie because on her last day she said she wanted to be with her, she just loved her too much.
Carrie shared the most valuable advice on the show.
A young woman asked her what advice would she give to a 30-year-old and Fisher wisely answered: “Don’t do anything you’re thinking about doing, and don’t talk about it either.”
The actress had many talents.
She was a natural comedian, she wrote an autobiography where she treats her drug and alcohol issues with such a dark humor, the same as her relationship struggles. Fisher could make anybody laugh, it was truly special.
“I miss you, Carrie. I love you,” DeGeneres said at the end of the tribute.
