Kim Kardashian Went To The Met Gala All By Herself, And Here’s Why!

Kim Kardashian attended the 2017 Met Gala on Monday, displaying a very minimal look: a white, off-the-shoulder Vivienne Westwood, simple white sandals, a sleek bob, modest makeup, no jewelry, and last, but not least, no husband.

Ever since 2013, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have been one of the most expected couples on “fashion’s biggest night out”. But this year, Kardashian went solo, and had everyone asking, “Where’s Kanye West?”

“He’s at home,” the reality star told Vogue’s, André Leon Talley. He’s been taking some time off and really loving that.”

It was expected that the 39-year-old rapper wouldn’t attend the gala, as several sources did some consulting before the event. One of them told People Magazine that West wouldn’t be going because he feels he’s still not ready to return to the red carpet following his 2016 breakdown and posterior hospitalization. “He’s doing great but wants to keep his stress levels low and just wants to take more time off. Kim and Kanye are in a great place,” the source said.

The source also clarified that the decision had nothing to do with the Met Gala per se, but with the stress and pressure, a big red carpet can bring. “He’s made a lot of progress and is in a much better place… He just wasn’t quite there yet.”

Another insider told the magazine before the gala that West would be staying in L.A. with their kids. “Everything is great with him and Kim and he’s supportive of her going solo.”

The West family went through some crisis but turned out to be for the best

2016 was a tough year for the West family. While the rapper had to deal with a mental breakdown, generated by an excess of work and stress and was later hospitalized for several days, Kardashian got robbed around €10 million at gunpoint in Paris. West even rushed out of the stage in the middle of a performance as soon as he got the news.

These situations caused that the family backed off from the spotlight for a time. The rapper rescheduled the Saint Pablo Tour, and even ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians Season 13’ was put on hold indefinitely, and later returned. Kardashian even talked about the episode.

As time went by, things got back to normal, although the couple is still a bit more conservative than they were. One source told People that they are enjoying their new lifestyle, not as flashy as it used to be. “[They’re] much more low-key and not in the spotlight like before,” the source said. “They both feel like they are better people and that it has changed their family for the better. They don’t have any desire to go back how things were.”
