It seems Jade Thirlwall is adding acting to her portfolio. The Little Mix singer is currently “in talks” to play Princess Jasmine in Guy Ritchie’s live-action remake of Disney’s ‘Aladdin.’
The 24-year-old singer, who’s a diehard Disney fan, is said to be really near of signing a contract to take the leading role in Ritchie’s new movie as if being part of a chart-topper band weren’t enough.
If cast, she would need to dedicate months to rehearsals, filming and subsequent promotion of the movie. That means she would have to stop everything else she’s doing. And we mean everything. Thirlwall’s new turn to her career puts in danger the band’s future.
A source told The Sun that, on Monday 15, the foursome sat down for a serious discussion about how they would deal with Thirlwall’s long absence if Disney decided to cast her.
“Jasmine is Jade’s perfect role, so she’s delighted to have got this far in the process. The talks have been going on for some time now,” the source said. “And the longer they go on, the better her chances are looking.”
“All of the girls have their fingers crossed for her, as they always support each other. But they also know that it would be a huge commitment,” the source added.
“It was quite an emotional conversation. But they all agreed that they would try to make it work for her around Little Mix commitments. It wouldn’t be easy, but as far as it’s possible, that’s what they want.”
While there’s still no final word from Disney, the band is still working together
The British band, formed in 2011 in ‘The X Factor’ – and the first and only group that has won the contest – just announced on Twitter that they will re-launching the song “Power” – which was released last year – this time collaborating with grime artist Stormzy.
Yaaass! 🙌 You heard RIGHT! The new version of #Power will feature the one and only @Stormzy1! Just a week until you can hear it😘 X the girls pic.twitter.com/WzKIMe1o8Z

While the announcement was well received by most fans, some didn’t find it so pleasant, complaining about who’s idea was it to feature a male rapper in a girl power anthem.
