At a conference in Mexico on September 27, SpaceX’s founder and CEO, Elon Musk, unveiled the company’s Interplanetary Transport System (ITS) and the plan to get 1 million people to Mars.
The rocket can carry at least 100 people per flight. The spaceship, which sits atop the booster, will be 162 feet tall and 56 feet wide and will have nine Raptors of its own. The spaceship will also return to Earth, meaning prospective colonists don’t have to stay on the Red Planet forever if they don’t want to, it’s not a one-way trip.
