Brodie, The Bear That Went Viral Thanks To This Youtuber [VIDEO]

Tedd Is That You?

Youtube and their pranks have gotten viral lately, but this one went out of this guy’s hands. Jake Paul is a YouTuber decided to prank the Transportation Security Administration at LAX by trying to get a stuffed bear into the plain with him, the TSA posted a picture of it on Instagram and people started saying they ruined some child’s Christmas.

The picture was uploaded with some advice for carry-on baggage, but people misunderstood the situation and assumed the giant Teddy bear was some kid’s Christmas present and had to be left behind because they didn’t allow him to get it on the plane. People not only accused them of ruining Christmas but also violating the 4th Amendment.

Later this week the TSA posted the picture on Instagram again, this time explaining the situation.

Jake Paul made up a story just to prank the TSA.

The YouTuber tried to get Brodie the Bear on the plane, he knew it would be a hard task because just putting it on the back of a van was a struggle. When he arrived at the airport, a woman asked him if it was a gift for his girlfriend. That’s when Paul got the idea of saying that it was a birthday present for his GF who lives in New York.

Jake had to buy a boarding pass for Brodie.

The Bear is a giant stuffed animal and wouldn’t fit in as a baggage, so Paul bought a ticket just for Brodie, he said that if he made it trough, it would be the best plane partner ever, just imagine sleeping on his stomach. The boarding pass and the back story allowed Jake to pass the first security stop.

A member of the TSA followed him to the next stop.

He made it the first time, but Jake’s giant bear was so rare, they couldn’t allow it, so a woman from the agency followed the vlogger to the second stop to make sure he didn’t pass it this time.

He was asked to shut down the camera.

Paul was breaking the rules as he wasn’t allowed to film in that area of the airport, he decided to continue anyway until a security guard ordered him to turn off his camera.

Brodie didn’t make it.

Even with the cameras “off” you can hear the conversation that Jake maintained with the Delta security guard,”This is not gonna fit in the seat” they said. Paul was upset, since the officers just didn’t want Brodie on the plane “You guys don’t want to work it out”.

Jake almost misses his flight.

They kept him waiting for fifteen minutes as they decided not to let Brodie enter the plane, and that almost costs Jake the trip. He had 10 minutes to take the plane, but the gate was so far away he had to run to get in on time.

The TSA found out it was a prank.

Bob Burns, the man who runs the TSA social media wrote on the blog “A picture of the bear and an incident report were sent to me as an idea for an Instagram post, I thought it would be a good opportunity for a travel tip post, letting people know that very large items can sometimes pose problems when being carried on the plane. Even though I didn’t mention a child in the Instagram post, some quickly assumed it was a child’s bear and imagined a heartbroken child having to leave its friend behind for the holidays. This was not the case. It belonged to a grown man. He wasn’t even certain the bear would make it onto the plane telling his YouTube viewers that he had a 50/50 chance. In one scene, you can watch him have a little trouble stuffing the bear in the back of a minivan. He also confesses in the video of creating a fictional back story for the bear to help him get it on the plane. He said it was a gift for his girlfriend. So… no children were involved in this incident.”

He even made up a backstory that the bear was a gift for his girlfriend. The bear did not belong to a child. The passenger had actually bought a ticket for the bear. After the airline and TSA decided the bear was too large, the airline offered to refund the ticket and the traveler was given the option of checking the bear as checked baggage. The traveler opted not to check the bear and left it behind.*** Why does this gigantic teddy bear look so sad? He was abandoned by his owners at LAX after the airline and TSA determined that he was just too big to be screened as a carry-on and taken on the plane. It’s a good idea to check with your airline prior to traveling with overly large items as cary-ons. If you see this wayward bear strolling the streets of LA, please feel free to feed him. #TSATravelTips

People are upset anyway.

Although Jake continued with his trip and no child was involved, people didn’t find fair that Brodie couldn’t get on the plane, so they started a campaign on the TSA Instagram with the hashtag #freebrodiethebear.
