Mom Quits Job To Travel The World With 6-Year-Old Daughter

This Is The Cutest Thing Ever.

trSometimes life gives us a reminder of how short it really is. In those opportunities, we have two options: either we embrace it and try to make the best out of it, or we simply don’t pay attention to it and continue life.

After losing a dear friend, this Aussie mom decided to make the most out of her life and decided to go around the world with her 6-year-old daughter. The duo now has almost a year traveling, and you can follow their adventures on their IG account where they have over 50k followers.

Evie Farrel and her daughter Emmie have traveled around the world for almost a year.

It's our anniversary! We've been traveling together for SIX MONTHS today!! I can't believe it – where did the time go? It doesn't feel like six months at all. We are so lucky to be here in Paris to celebrate – thank you so much @thaiairways for flying us over. We're having the BEST TIME. Just got back from the Eiffel Tower at night, and we sat on the steps at the Trocadero listening to a French musician and singing along to Beatles songs with the big crowd of people from all over the world, the golden tower sparkling in the background. Had a lump in my throat as I cuddled Emmie on the steps and sung along 💙💙💙 . . . . . . #loveparis #happy #together #sixmonths #weloveparis #visitparis #parislove #eminparis #photoftheday #parisfrance #parisjetaime #pariswithkids #openmyworld #ditchingsuburbia #happydays #greatday #bestday #weloveyouparis #beautifulparis #happyinparis #bestever #trocadero #eiffeltower #anniversary #followyourdream #escapesnaps #huffpostau #funtimes

Recently Evie lost a dear friend and that made her realized how short life really is.

I call this the Boogie for Buddha as Emmie danced her way into Nanchan Temple yesterday, trying to keep warm. We love Buddhist temples, they're so beautiful and spiritual, and we both feel so at peace when visiting them we now consider ourselves Catholic Buddhists! 💕 Today we talked about the temples we've been to this year, the prayers we've said, incense we've burned, blessings received from monks, wishes made and fortunes told by throwing moon blocks and fortune sticks, and coins tossed high into the slits in the sides of large urns for luck. Emmie firmly believes that we will live in Los Angeles next year as she has asked for this at every single temple we have visited in the past 11 months. That's a lot of temples so I can understand why she is feeling confident. I need to make this happen! Or maybe Buddha will, and I just need to keep cruising along 💕 . . . . . . . #wuxi #nanchen #china #mytravelgram #escapesnaps #travelgram #mypassport #traveldiary #travelmum #familytravel #instagram #instatravel #visitchina #nanchantemple #seechina #seetheworld #travelwithkids #kidsadventure #holidaywithkids #travellingdestinations #travelchina #chinatravel #bringthekids # #temples #funtimes #beautifulnature #worldschool #explorerkids

Her friend passed away from cancer and was a wonderful woman, and the mother of two children.

🔅How do I keep Emmie safe in Asia?🔅 I get this question quite a lot and it seems many people worry about safety when planning a trip here, it was my biggest concern before we left too. 💙 I'm happy to say though that I have never stressed about Emmie's safety or wellbeing in all the countries we have been to and in fact we have been so looked after and watched over – from the kind people of Taiwan offering us seats on trains and asking us if we need help, friendly Chinese pointing us in the right direction at train stations and offering Emmie fruit, people taking taxis with us to show us where our hostels are, the lovely fam in the Philippines who cared for Emmie while I was sick in bed with my ruptured eardrum – kindness is everywhere. 💙 The easiest way to think of how to keep your child safe in Asia – in my opinion – is to think of how you keep them safe at home. It's the same thing. Watch them, hold their hands, don't go to dodgy places after dark, don't take unnecessary risks, always have a meeting point and don't go into the middle of super crowded areas. I'll write in more detail about this cause there are some tips and tricks that definitely are helpful. 💙 However I do let Emmie wander as long as I can see her and could get to her quickly if needed – the same as at home. 💙 So my advice is not to worry about excessively about child safety here, and be as sensible and cautious as you are at home. If anything your kids will be completely adored by the kind and lovely people of Asia 💕 . . . . . . . . . . . . #cebupacificair #soulofthephilippines #philippines #elnido #islandhopping #itsmorefuninthephilippines #travelph #choosephilippines #tourA #travelwithkids #traveldiaries #jetsetkids #tinytravels #holidaywithkids #luxurytravel #travelstoke #palawan #philippinesphotocontest #visitphilippines #safetravels #traveldiaries #mysomewhere #escapesnaps #wearetravelmums #cebtravels #loveph #traveltheworld #traveldeeper #traveljunkie

So she decided to spend her savings in a different way.

ON THE BLOG ⭐️ Thinking of a trip to Disneyland? If you're in Asia then definitely spend a couple of days (at least!) at Shanghai Disneyland. In June this year we were so lucky to visit Shanghai for its grand opening!😎 I have to admit I was nervous – worrying about crowds and how a Chinese Disneyland would work. And you know what? It was amazing! ⭐️We loved Shanghai Disneyland and we also fell in love with China on our travels after we spent a week at the new Happiest Place on Earth. Our review and tips for visiting is up on the blog 💕💕💕 LINK IN PROFILE 💙 . . . . . . #traveling #traveltime #travelblog #traveltheworld #openmyworld #familyfun #escape #besttimes #funtimes #wanderlust #travelfam #travelwithkids #familytravel #famtravel #kidstravel #travelkids #holidayswithkids #takemethere #instagood #holidays #together #travelbuddy #traveldiary #instapassport #travelgram #mytravelgram #ouradventure #roamfree #lpkids #travelmum

Instead of getting a new kitchen she took her 6-year-old daughter traveling around the world.

Oh what a day, I have so many photos I want to share, it was just so amazing and beautiful and peaceful 💕 We took our time today in a tuk tuk, traveling around Angkor and spending hours at Angkor Thom and Ta Phrom Kel – the temple with all the trees going through it – we stopped at the city gates, walked over moats, climbed up to the top of temples and just enjoyed being in such an incredible ancient city – no rushing, no deadlines. It was a little crowded but so quiet and calm. We climbed so much, we are soooo sore! In the afternoon we went ziplining with Flight of the Gibbon within Angkor Park – I managed to do without too many nerves and Emmie loved it so much they kindly let her go around twice, before heading back to Bakheng Hill for sunset. Oh I am exhausted. Emmie is exhausted. Pool day tomorrow 💙 oh and Emmie's gorg dress – on the way there we discovered kids have to be covered too [shoulders and knees] so we stopped at a roadside stall and grabbed this and the hat for $7 👊 . . . . . . . . . #cambodia #siemreap #visitcambodia #temple #khmer #angkorwat #lovecambodia #angkor #travelwithkids #traveldiaries #jetsetkids #tinytravels #holidaywithkids #luxurytravel #travelstoke #traveldiaries #escapesnaps #wearetravelmums #angkortemples #angkorthom #traveltheworld #traveldeeper #traveljunkie #siemreapcambodia #siemreaptrip #travelblog #traveltheworld #camdbodiawithkids #angkortemple

She considered her daughter Emmie, would be more grateful for this experience instead of a new kitchen.

And now we are in Puerto Princesa, Palawan via Manila. We'll be here for a few days before we head up to El Nido and more island hopping, hammocks and chilled beaches 🌴☀️💕 We flew two flights with @CebuPacificAir and as usual everything was really smooth. AND WE WON A PRIZE! 🎉👊✔️ Whoop! I was so determined to win and the fact that they were the same questions as on the flight over had nothing to do with my victory 😂😂😂. There is a newly opened ferry route that will take you between Coron and El Nido without having to fly around and take the six hour bus up to El Nido. It's not for me but it's there if you want to just ride one mode of transport, I'm not sure how much time it saves. I'm not a big fan of long ferry rides, especially in typhoon season. I prefer to travel where I feel safe – and when we fly we can look out over the turquoise blue waters as we zoom over the islands. I am loving being back on the road again 💕Hope everyone has had a great weekend and wishing you funtimes for the week ahead 💙💙💙#hosted . . . . . . . . #cebupacificair #bestflight #philippines #flying #flycebupacific #itsmorefuninthephilippines #travelph #choosephilippines #jump #travelwithkids #traveldiaries #jetsetkids #tinytravels #holidaywithkids #luxurytravel #travelstoke #instatravel #cebupacificair #visitphilippines #bestairline #traveldiaries #mysomewhere #escapesnaps #wearetravelmums #cebtravels #loveph #traveltheworld #traveldeeper #mysmilesnap

She also thought it was a great way to teach Emmie that life is more than working behind a desk and paying bills.

Blessings to everyone from this most spiritual temple in a truly magic town. Today we roamed dusty streets, temples and riverbanks and fell in love with the rawness of this beautiful city, and tonight we went to an amazing photography show at @bambustage It's the cool way to learn about Cambodia's history and culture through carefully researched rare photos and movies, all narrated by the amazing Aussie Nick Coffill and set to live local music. 😀 Like an intimate TEDtalk, the photos and stories are captivating. Kids are welcomed, seats are comfy, you can see the show and dinner or show only AND you get a welcome drink and nibbles on arrival regardless 👊. It was an awesome night and we both loved it so wanted to make sure those of you heading to Siem Reap book in. It's Bambu Stage and you can google or find them via @bambustage here. $12.50 for show only or $25 for show and dinner xo . . . . . . . . #cambodia #siemreap #visitcambodia #explorerkids #khmer #angkorwat #lovecambodia #angkor #travelwithkids #traveldiaries #jetsetkids #tinytravels #holidaywithkids #wearetravelgirls #travelstoke #traveldiaries #escapesnaps #wearetravelmums #angkortemples #angkorpark #traveltheworld #traveldeeper #traveljunkie #siemreapcambodia #siemreaptrip #travelblog #traveltheworld #cambodiawithkids #angkortemple #mysomewhere

So the 43-year-old consultant from Sydney prepared everything and started their adventure in February 2016.

Malaysia is such an awesome place to travel – we love everything about it…the people, the wildlife and jungles, the food, the heat, its busy cities, friendly towns and beautiful beaches. This is Emmie checking out the Boh tea plantation in the Cameron Highlands. It was pretty chilled up there, we loved nearby Ipoh too with its amazing cave temples and a random Sunway theme park 💕 . . . . . . . . . . . . #cameronhighlands #malaysia #malaysiatrulyasia #travelwithkids #aussiemum #kidstravel #familyjaunts #holidaywithkids #familytravel #instatravel #funtimes #malaysiatourism #mytravelgram #goeverywhere #travelmum #travelasia #lovemalaysia #holidayswithkids #traveldiaries #solomum #bohteaplantation #mytinyatlas #lpkids #myMYexperience #lonelyplanet #wanderlust #seemalaysia #bestday

In the past months, they visited thirteen countries.

Nowhere to rush to, nowhere to be except where we are. These Hoi An sunsets are amazing, I still need to catch one at the beach though…maybe tomorrow after Emmie's last day of term and last day at Green Shoots. It's now back to the School of Mummy for a couple of months and she is not impressed. I am regaining some power though as I've introduced a points based reward system and she is desperate to get her 10 points (which I award at my whim). I'm keen to give schooling another try. I reckon I've got this (there is no way that I've got this 😂) 💕💕💕 . . . . . . . . #vietnamtravel #vietnam #vietnamtrip #vietnamwithkids #ilovevietnam #hoian #hoiantravel #sky #hoianwithkids #travelvietnam #explorerkids #hoianvietnam #traveldiaries #besutofulhoian #wanderlust #mytinyatlas #funtimes #friends #happydays #bestdays #escapetravel #holidayswithkids #wearetravelmums #familyjaunts #traveltheworld #ricepaddy #sunset #loveher

Such a fun afternoon riding buffalo in the rice paddies on the way to the beach! My friend Kylie @wonderlight.photography took this gorgeous snap – if you're coming to Hoi An before 9 October you should book her in for a photo session before she heads home to Australia.📷📷 So much amazingness here in Hoi An, loving it more and more every day 💕💕💕 . . . . . . . . #vietnamtravel #vietnam #vietnamtrip #vietnamwithkids #ilovevietnam #hoian #hoiantravel #lovehoian #hoianwithkids #travelvietnam #ricepaddies #hoianvietnam #hoiancity #vietnamese #wanderlust #funtimes #worldschool #holidayswithkids #happydays #bestdays #escapetravel #holidayswithkids #wearetravelmums #familyjaunts #lovinglife #traveltheworld #buffalo #ricepaddy #openmyworld #mysomewhere

Evie said “We’ve traveled for a whole year with one backpack… and there’s no way I’m going back to my old way of life now”

These two really love adventures and know how to have a great time.

The top of the Arc de Triomphe has such fabulous views over Paris and is reached via beautiful little spiral staircases within the columns. On our way down Em decided to see how far her hat would travel and kept chucking it down the middle of the stairwell and watching it flutter down to the feet of the people below…she also counted the steps down but needs verification! She counted 204…here's a counting challenge for you if you're heading there! They keep their IG account updated with the most adorable pics.

Evie says that over time Emmie “She would thank me for filling her early years with amazing experiences, learning, and sights and sounds from around the world”

I can't sleep again! And yeah, looking through pics and playing on my phone is sure going to help that 😝. I love my pics of Emmie with the elephants. We went to this incredible sanctuary when we were first in Chiang Mai a few weeks ago – if you're coming to Thailand please don't ride the elephants. It really hurts them and is very cruel. Go to a rescue camp and hang with the elephants and give them some loving instead. It's the best and you'll feel so good! 🐘🐘🐘💙💙💙 [there's a review on our blog, link ⬆️⬆️] . . . . . . #elephantschiangmai #elephantlove #dontrideelephants #jungles #happyelephants #wildlife #animals #chiangmaielephants #tinytraveller #littlestepsasia #huffpostau #lonelyplanet #escapesnaps #jetsettingkids #ditchingsuburbia #chiangmai #lovechiangmai #visitchiangmai #visitthailand #lovethailand #travelthailand #amazingthailand #wanderlust #thailocalexperience #seetheworld #traveltheworld #traveldiary #happydays #bestday

Spending time with your loved ones while discovering new places and cultures.

Watching the sunset on Koh Rong Samloem right before Emmie became overconfident and hit the deck. 😳 My preferences of surfaces for head and body landings: 1️⃣ Sand (hopefully a soft landing) 2️⃣ Wood (heads bounce) 3️⃣ Ceramic (never; heads crack). 😜 She got wood and sand on this one. The best two out of three – way to go Emmie 👊🤗💕 . . . . . . . . #cambodia #kohrongsamloem #visitcambodia #explorerkids #khmer #lazybeach #lovecambodia #kohrong #travelwithkids #traveldiaries #littlestepsasia #tinytravels #holidaywithkids #luxurytravel #beach #traveldiaries #escapesnaps #wearetravelmums #sunset #kohrong #traveltheworld #traveldeeper #traveljunkie #beachtime #instasunset #travelblog #mysomewhere #kathmandu

I don’t think there’s a better way to spend time.

The adventure has brought not only good times and amazing memories to the pair, but also wisdom.

We saw cheeky Garuda and beautiful elephant statues and reliefs everywhere at the temples at Angkor today. Remember please don't ride elephants when you're here, there are some for hire to take tourists around the temples but it's just so cruel, especially in the heat and with how the elephants are broken down to make them compliant enough to carry silly tourists who want a ride. There are so many other ways to get around – bicycle, e-bike (electric), tuk tuk, moped or car – you just don't need to ride a big, beautiful defeated animal to get your Angkor kicks! 💙💙💙 . . . . . . . #cambodia #siemreap #visitcambodia #explorerkids #khmer #pleasedontrideelephants #lovecambodia #angkor #travelwithkids #traveldiaries #jetsetkids #tinytravels #holidaywithkids #luxurytravel #travelstoke #traveldiaries #escapesnaps #wearetravelmums #angkortemples #angkorpark #traveltheworld #traveldeeper #traveljunkie #siemreapcambodia #siemreaptrip #travelblog #traveltheworld #cambodiawithkids #elephant #mysomewhere
