1. Asia Ramadan was among the highest ranks of the all-female Women’s Protection Units, which is a Kurdish group battling ISIS near Syria’s border with Turkey.

2. Ramadan joined the all-women army of the Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Unit (YPJ) back in 2014. With one particular goal in mind: free all Syrian women in her village from patriarchal domination.

3. Asia was born in Qamishli, a city in north-eastern Syria on the border with Turkey.

4. She battled against the ISIS group to make the world a better place. Fighting against the ISIS group was her way of eliminating the toxic thoughts and actions of the world.

5. She was known as the “Kurdish Angelina Jolie,” because of her look-alike physic.

6. She was the poster girl for the Syrian Kurdish Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) in the country destroyed by the Islamic State.

7. The Kurdish Angelina Jolie was involved in a lot of key battles against the Daesh (terrorist group)  in northern Syria before she was killed.

8. She was killed trying to stop an attack by three ISIS suicide car bombers. The explosion killed her instantly. “She and her fellows blew up two of them, but the last was very close to her when it exploded,” Commander Shirin Abdullah, YPJ spokeswoman, said.

9. She was able to complete her secondary school level education. By the time she was 19 she had already been married, but got divorced three months later.
