The Grammy Gown Is Supposed To Be Inspired By Madonna’s Women’s March Speech.

The political environment that has been developing in the United States after Mr. Trump’s electoral triumph, has created multiple perceptions and statements of Americans. Especially female artists such as Meryl Streep and Madonna, who have raised their voices in favor of millions of citizens, to defend what they believe is right.

Someone had to touch the political issue at the 2017 Grammys ceremony, Joy Villa was the one to do it, who supported by designer Andre Soriano, wore a dress that confused the world. Especially since the designer immigrated to the US from the Philippines,

Who is that guy?

Soriano is a Filipino immigrant, that supports the new president despite his controversial immigration ban, he skirted questions regarding the meat of his political beliefs, by saying he is a proud American and believes that he is an example of the American dream.

He was first discovered on Rihanna’s Bravo reality show, Styled to Rock, and launched his label in San Diego in 2013, selling ready-to-wear and red-carpet looks online only.

An act of free expression

Joy claims she wore the controversial pro-Trump gown as an act of free expression, she should have known that among the Trump-hating crowd of artists, her message was not going to be positively received, so she wore a white capelet gown on the red carpet.

She used her Instagram account to share her look with the world and wrote, “Sometimes you just gotta be free to express yourself, thank you to all of my supporters and fellow believers. Life is about living free and loving it, be your beautiful selves tonight.”
