Homer Simpson Has Been ‘Inducted’ Into The National Baseball Hall of Fame

It Has Been 25 Years Since ‘Homer at the Bat’

The Simpsons have made fun of every aspect of the American life. Achieving some amazing things in the process, now they’ve reached another milestone. Homer Simpson will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Not bad at all, especially if we consider Homer’s athleticism, healthy habits and the fact that he has never played professional baseball.

But it seems that the commitment that he showed with the Springfield Isotopes was enough to grant him one of the major honors that there exist in the sport. Something that only a privileged few achieve, now we will have Homer Simpson. We will see him hanging around some of the greatest names in Baseball. Probably having a beer and in an incorrect manner.

Why and how Simpson?

Homer Simpson will actually get inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame due to his skills playing baseball, sort of. It is mostly because of the 25 years after the “Homer at the Bat” episode of “The Simpsons”. In which Homer played a key role in the victory of the Springfield Isotopes.

The episode featured nine MLB players hired by Mr. Burns to help bring home the championship for the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant’s softball team. Even though it was obviously Homer who stole the show. As he won the game for the Isotopes, being hit in the head by a pitch to force home the winning run. “Homer at the Bat” aired on February 20th of 1992. Featuring the voices of many big names in sports. Counting with the likes of Ken Griffey Jr., Wade Boggs, Ozzie Smith, Don Mattingly, Roger Clemens, Darryl Strawberry, Jose Canseco and Steve Sax.

Legendary Homer

Despite his career in baseball might have been short Homer has accepted the honor very “proudly”. As he said in a “statement,” that it is “truly an honor for me to enter the Baseball Hall of Fame. My record for eating hot dogs will never be broken. I’ve been a fan for 40 years, which is how long some games take. And I can’t wait for the ceremony in Canton, Ohio“.

Hopefully, Simpson will make it to the ceremony. Since the Baseball Hall of Fame is in Cooperstown, not Canton that’s the home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The episode commemorating Homer’s highlight will be screened entirely on Saturday, on an outside screen at baseball’s shrine. Simpson’s induction will also include his onscreen acceptance speech, Hall of Fame officials said. That will surely have the classic humor that has characterized the show, and that deserves a Hall of Fame induction as well.
