The lead role actress from Beauty and the Beast appeared nearly topless for a shoot for Vanity Fair magazine. The picture caused controversy through social media when some people began to see her in a quite different way. Radio host Julia Hartley-Brewer, in a widely retweeted post featuring the so-called controversial image, commented that “she complains that women are sexualised and then sexualizes herself in her own work. Hypocrisy.”

Emma’s response
Emma seemed kind of disappointed and confused over the blast of comments that her Vanity Fair photoshoot unleashed. The actress explained that “feminism is about giving women choice, feminine is not a stick with which to beat other women with if it’s about, it’s about freedom, it’s about liberation, it’s about equality.”
