This Artist Shames Tourists Taking Disrespectful Photos At The Holocaust Memorial

Mankind has done some really cruel and brutal stuff. From literally eliminating animal species to generating countless genocides. As the Holocaust is one of the most remembered and iconic ones. Since is a proof of how terrible humans can be.

Due to the horror, this historic event has been in countless movies, documentaries and memorials have been done. So no one can repeat an atrocity of this size. But as time pass people tend to forget things and start to disrespect these memories. So a German artist seeing this has used this disrespectful documentation to create his newest piece.

In our modern society shallowness has become the rule. As everything is based on social media, selfies, and likes. As there is always time to take, post or comment on one. Even at the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin.

The monument is visited by thousands of tourist each year. Since it’s a must-see if you’re in the city. As Germany has interestingly used the historical “ruins” or “fact” around in order to keep history alive on their capital. Turning them into monuments.

But in those thousands of pictures, people take to commemorate their visit at Berlin and at the Holocaust Monument, some of them deserve to be retouched. That is exactly what an Israeli-German based artist called Shahak Shapira thinks and has done.

The artist was born in Israel and has done many pieces involving his faith as a topic. This time he has done one called “Yolocaust.” In which he has taken some ridiculous photos that people have uploaded and turned them into shocking masterpieces.

Bullied into conscience.

Shapira has used this modified selfies at the holocaust to create a really strong conscience campaign. As he sees this can’t be stand, due to the horrors of WWII and the 6 millions of jews that were slaughtered during that time.
