Let the comedy binge watching begin.
If you think 2016 has been an awful year (because it actually has) then you might need something that helps you forget all about it, and no, I’m not talking about booze. The best way to free yourself from the rest of the world and enter a new reality is watching TV, because those nights of “Continue Watching” are the absolute best, so you might wanna spend these las night of the year watching something cool.
I’ve been thinking about it and honestly what we really need right now is to have a laugh, so I had the greatest idea (yes it’s a good one, you’ll thank me later) and selected the best comedy’s out there and made a list of 15 shows that’ll make you happy until the new year comes, and you should definitely check it out.
15. Speechless.
ABC describes the show as “Maya DiMeo (Minnie Driver) is a mom on a mission who will do anything for her husband Jimmy, her kids Ray, Dylan, and JJ, her eldest son with cerebral palsy. As Maya fights injustices both real and imagined, the family works to make a new home for themselves, and searches for just the right person to give JJ his “voice.” But it’s really about a woman who is good at creating new challenges for her and her family.
14. Jane The Virgin.
This is straight out of a Univision Telenovela, I swear but it’s brilliantly funny. A young, devout Catholic woman discovers that she is pregnant after she was accidentally artificially inseminated. Like you’ll crack up just watching the trailer.
13. Transparent.
The show is about an LA family that has like really really big boundary issues and a situation makes their secrets spill out.
12. High Maintenance.
This is a Brooklyn pot dealer who delivers the merchandise to his clients and has a glimpse of their daily routines and how they light things up.
11. Horace and Pete.
This comedy-drama was created by Louis C.K. starring himself and it’s about co-owners of an Irish bar, Horace and Pete’s. It’s a web show, so you know it’s interesting.
10. You’re The Worst.
Be careful because this might be you in real life… or me. It’s about two toxic and self-destructive persons who “fall in love” and are trying to have a relationship.
9. Silicon Valley.
The series will release its fourth season in 2017. The comedy is about six guys that just found a startup company in Silicon Valley.
8. The Good Place.
The show its about a woman who passed away and is trying to figure out what it means to be “good” and what happens at the “bad” side.
7. Lady Dynamite.
This is about a woman who loses and the finds herself, some sort of all of us IRL. You’ll laugh or cry, more likely laugh and it’s totally worth it, I promise.
6. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
This show was created by Tina Fey and honestly I don’t think you need more information than that, but just in case: the series is about a woman being rescued from a doomsday cult and she’s trying to start over in NYC.
5. Insecure.
This series is created by Issa Rae based on her previous online show “Awkward Black Girl”. It tells the awkward experiences of contemporary African-American women, as they are usually shown like confident girls, the show points a different and very funny side.
4. Better Things.
This comedy shows the struggles of a woman raising three daughters while trying to maintain her job in Hollywood as an actress and be a single parent at the same time. It sounds hard but it’s funny to watch.
3. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
Ok, I just want you to know I’m not ranking this on number three because it’s something I would do in real life, the series is good because it already has a second season okay? It’s about a girl who bumps into her summer camp crush, that she never got over and decides to follow him from NCY to LA, plus is a musical comedy-drama!!
Baby if you are reading this, this article is for you (He probably isn’t reading).
2. Atlanta.
This show is in its first season and has everyone flipping out. It’s a comedy-drama about two cousins who are on their way up to the Atlanta rap scene, suddenly one becomes a star and starts trying to give their families a better life.
1. Veep.
This satirical-politic comedy show has been around since 2012 and it’s signing a new season in 2017 because it’s absolutely brilliant. The show has an improvisational style that only Julia Louis-Dreyfus could do. She plays a senator who just became Vice President of USA, the job is harder that she thought but with the help of her team, she’s trying to leave a mark in Washington. But I really think I got you with Julia Louis-Dreyfus so I’ll stop talking.
