Apple is about to launch the world’s largest classical music catalog on March 28. The classical music catalog will be accessible via the Apple Music Classical standalone app which will be hosted on the iOS App Store, and later on Google’s Play Store for Samsung Galaxy Android device users.
The Apple Music Classical app will feature the largest collection of classical music in the world, and it will be usable via curated playlists, exclusive albums, composer biographies, and deep-dive guides for major works. The more than five million songs on the app can be searched out by composer, conductor, and catalog number for specific works.
According to Apple, users will be able to access classic masterpieces to new releases when the app goes live toward the end of the month. Apple started working on the classical music catalog app after acquiring Primephonic in 2021. Apple closed down the classical music streaming service but reinvented a new musical experience through the upcoming app that classical music lovers would hear on the go.
Classical music will stream on the app at the highest audio quality possible, and users will also be able to utilize immersive spatial audio technology on the app. Users will not need to subscribe to Apple Music Classical when it launches; Apple device owners who already subscribed to the standard Apple Music app will be able to use the classical music app without any subscriptions.
Samsung Galaxy Store does not feature Apple Music, so Samsung Galaxy device owners can access the app by downloading it from Play Store. Much later, when the app becomes available to other Android smartphone users, anyone would be able to get it on Google Play Store. While it is confirmed that Apple device users will get the classical music app on March 28, a date has not been set for Android device owners.
