Why I’m Not On Pokemon GO.

Not everybody understood the Pokemon GO fever, and this brilliant dad used his skills to try to understand it. Brant Pinvidic is a filmmaker who lives in the social media era, and through movies, he exposes his thoughts and concerns about it. Back in 2015 Brant made a short film called “Why I’m Not On Facebook,” where he explored the popular media and its impact.

This time he delivers this short film where he explores this year’s phenomenon, and surprisingly for him, changes his mind about it. It really is his way back to his daughter and trying to bond with her.

Here comes the fever.

On July 2016 Pokemon GO was launched and people went nuts about it. In a short time, it had over fifty million downloads. People were practically living to play, and so was Brant’s family. His wife, his oldest son, his youngest son and his adored daughter. Since Pokemon GO was taking away his precious daughter, he decided to document his adventure trying to understand the evil game.

The downsides.

Brant couldn’t understand how this game was socially accepted. People walking around with their phones, trying to capture things. On top of that, there were accidents and even transgression happening. And all of that was okay just because they were using their phones? He simply didn’t get it.

Field adventure.

Of course, Brant couldn’t simply judge people from outside the community. So, he decided to throw a party, and to his surprise, he realized some of the good things about it. He started seeing the fun in it and felt the sense of community, as well as the subculture gathering. It even had health benefits, some people had lost weight. Others found love.
