Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell received their Hollywood Walk of Fame stars. In a rare double ceremony on Thursday, the two stars were honored for more than 50 years in the business.
Friends, fans, and family gathered to honor the Hollywood royalty couple. Goldie and Russell made the cutest display of love as they shared kind words.
Sharing their love at the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony
It’s not every day that we witness a double ceremony of stars unveiling on Hollywood Boulevard. However, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell are far for being ordinary.The Hollywood royalty couple has shared their lives for 34 years after meeting on a movie set. Now, they are honored for their more than 50 years in the entertainment business.
The celebration brought together friends and fans to honor the longtime stars and partners.Quentin Tarantino, Reese Witherspoon and Kate Hudson graced the stars with kind words.
Goldie and Kurt were up to their reputation as Hollywood Royalty. Hawn with a ruffled floral dress and Russell looking handsome in a black suit. But the event was so much more than a fashion moment.The ceremony was a family affair, as Kate Hudson had the honor to share kind words for her mother and stepfather.
“I was slotted in to talk about my mother, but I have two parents and they’re both here. I always thought I’d be talking about them at a wedding or something,” Hudson said when she took the stage. “But since a wedding doesn’t seem to be in our near future, this seems to be my only opportunity.”
She then continued, “They’ve managed to have maintained a sense of normalcy and closeness with every one of their children. Something my mom would say is the only job she refused to fail at!”
Russell and Hawn also shared words in the ceremony. Hawn said, “Movies ar an illusion, but life isn’t. And that’s what matters. And we’ve always gone through our careers that way, our life that way, raised our family that way. And it’s who I am.”
But it was Russell who melted our hearts with his speech. “Goldie to you, I owe my wonderful life. Simply put Goldie, I cherish you. All of the stars in the sky or the boulevard don’t hold a candle to that. There’s no one else I’d rather be next to than Goldie Hawn.”
Kisses, heartfelt words, and admiration filled the tribute, as well as the most beautiful display of love and affection from these two timeless lovebirds.
After the ceremony, the couple was both excited and emotional about the big moment. Russel said, “This is much more emotional than I had anticipated it being. It was just fun to be part of the same thing together on this day.”
Hawn also expressed her emotions for being celebrated and being together in such an iconic Hollywood rite of passage, “You know, shared minds, shared hearts. That’s what happened today. It wasn’t just a celebration of a career.”
Talking about inspiring couples
Kurt Russel and Goldie Hawn are without a question one of Hollywood’s most inspiring and well-loved couples.The longtime partners share four children — Kate and Oliver Hudson and Wyatt and Boston Russell — becoming the perfect example of the modern blended family.
They met during the filming of “The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band” in 1968, but it wasn’t until filming “Swing Shift” in 1983 that their relationship began.These movies are two out of three titles they shared together. The third movie in which they both starred is Overboard. Which they recently watched together in a date night.
Goldie tweeted, “Kurt n I snuggled up and watched Overboard together. The first time we have seen it all the way thru since it came out. Now that’s Romance.”
Recently Russell shared his views on how to make a relationship work. During an interview with Mario Lopez on Extra, the actor said, “Look, I’ve said this for 34 years, I don’t think Goldie and I, in real terms, are any different than any other couple; we go through all the same things.”
He continued, “But the important thing of who the two people are in a relationship is what you have to deal with. There’s gonna be ups and downs and sideways and everything else … I just think after 34 years you’re gonna have experienced every emotion that you can together.”
Of course, Russell also credited his partner with making the relationship work. “Goldie is just spectacular, she is great, she is spectacular, she is the right girl for me, I left this morning and things were going good so, I hope it’s that way when I get back!”
The actors, who have both established successful separate careers are actually pretty synched. They are both promoting new movies, Snatched and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.Russel stars in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as an intergalactic father. The movie hit theaters on Friday and Goldie was there to support her love.
She said at the premiere, “I’m always proud of him, and I’m proud of him with this [film], but I haven’t seen the movie yet!”
Goldie stars with Amy Schumer in Snatched, a mother-daughter comedy that arrives in theaters May 12.
Hawn said about this timing, is “really fun. We both didn’t really know when they were going to be released. We haven’t done that in a long time. And even though we’re (promoting the films) separately it just is a really fun time in our lives.”
