Fergie and Josh Duhamel announced they separated after 8 years of marriage. The pair broke the news via a joint statement to People magazine on Thursday.
The stars revealed they called it quits months ago. They share a four-year-old son, Axl.
Parting different ways
Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor’s separation and Anna Faris and Chris Pratt’s split were bad enough, but now Fergie and Josh Duhamel have parted ways after 13 years together.
The couple was believed to be solid, often speaking out about spicing up their sex life and keeping things normal away from the spotlight.
However, the pair delivered a joint statement announcing they have called it quits months ago.
“With absolute love and respect we decided to separate as a couple earlier this year,” read the statement to People.
“To give our family the best opportunity to adjust we wanted to keep this a private matter before sharing it with the public. We are and will always be united in our support of each other and our family.”
Fergie and Josh got married on January 10, 2009, at the Church Estate Vineyards in Malibu, California – but less than a year later, scandal struck as Josh was accused of cheating on his new wife.
However, things seemed to work out for the couple that welcomed their son Axl in 2013.
On January Duhamel marked their anniversary by posting a photo of the couple with Axl, captioning it: “8 years!! Love you, babe.”
Fergie posted a picture of them in front of a sunset, captioned: “happy 8th anniversary to my bae.”

Ups and downs
Fergie and ‘Transformers’ actor first met back in 2004 on the set of Duhamel’s show ‘Las Vegas’ when the Black Eyed Peas joined for a cameo.
And it turns out that when they met, Fergie was aware the actor had a crush on her.
Josh had previously told InStyle magazine, “My recurring dream involves the lead singer of The Black Eyed Peas. Oh, my god, I’ve got the biggest crush on her! God, she is hot!”
And Fergie knew about the raunchy interview, with the star later told Playboy.
“I had read in a magazine that he’d had a naughty dream about me. All my friends knew about him because he had been a soap opera star.”
“I’m not into soap operas, but they told me, ‘You gotta go out with him. Do it for the group. Take one for the team,” she added.
The singer elaborated on the time they met.
“Time went by, and I saw on the schedule that we were taping a show called Las Vegas and I thought, “Is that the show he’s on?”
“We met, and I said, “I read you had a dream about me.”He said, “Yeah”, and I asked, “Was it good?” He said it was. So we pretty much hit it off straight away.’
The pair began dating after Josh persuaded ‘Las Vegas’ producers to get The Black Eyed Peas on the show, and love soon blossomed between the two, who are both practicing Catholics.
They got engaged in 2007 and tied the knot in 2009. Then, in August 2013, the stars welcomed their son, Axl Jack, with the couple admitting they were considering a second child over the past few years.
Ups and downs
The National Enquirer reported that Josh had a one night stand with an Atlanta stripper while he was on location filming ‘Life As We Know It’ with Katherine Heigl.
The dancer, Nicole Forrester, confirmed the alleged cheating, although Josh denied all allegations of infidelity.
In 2012, Fergie spoke to Oprah Winfrey about the allegations, claiming the ‘difficult’ rumors made them stronger.
“When you go through difficult times, it really makes you stronger as a unit, as a partnership. It does for us, anyway,” she said.
“Our love today is a deeper love. We’re stronger today definitely because of anything difficult that’s happened with us.”
‘We deal with it, we communicate. Communicating’s the most important thing.’
Josh also said the incident ‘straightened his ass out’.
“I don’t get involved with her stuff and she doesn’t get involved with mine and I think that helps because once you start intermixing profession and getting ideas and … I tried that for a little bit.”
Josh said in an interview, explaining the key to marital success was keeping their work and private lives separate.
“I tried saying, “I think this would be great,” and she said, “Listen. I’ve got plenty of people telling me about how my opinions are supposed to be. You just be my husband,” he went on explaining.
And I’m like, “Okay!” We just keep our professional stuff private or separate and we keep our private lives private.”
Except when boasting about their sex lives – Fergie admitted in several interviews that she has a locked wardrobe full of sexy outfits she wears in the bedroom while claiming that Josh performs private dances for her.
