Popstar Britney Spears, 40, has announced she is stepping away from social media for some time. The Piece of Me crooner told her 40.9 million Instagram followers on Sunday that she is taking a break, possibly to sort out herself.
“I’m going on a social media hiatus for a little while!!!” she wrote on Instagram. “I send my love and God bless you all!!!”
Just two weeks ago, on April 11, she announced to the world that she is expecting a baby with her boyfriend Sam Asghari. She already shares two sons – 16-year-old Sean and 15-year-old Jaden – with ex-husband Kevin Federline. The coming baby will be the first child Asghari will have from any woman.
After announcing her pregnancy, Spears said she suffered perinatal depression in the past and would be undergoing yoga on a daily basis to deal with the situation now. She said perinatal depression is very horrible and women do not often talk about it.
“I obviously won’t be going out as much due to the paps getting their money shot of me like they unfortunately already have,” she said of her pregnancy.
Most of her online fans expressed joy at the singer’s coming baby, recalling that she complained of being forced to use birth control during her 13-year conservatorship, which was nullified by the court in 2021. She also said she lost weight to be able to enjoy her vacation to Maui, but is starting to regain the weight following a stretch of inactivity.
While her fans will miss her constant updates on social media, Spears tends to use Instagram more than she does Twitter.
