Kendrick Lamar Talks About His Collaboration With Taylor Swift On 'Bad Blood'

Kendrick Lamar reveals how it was working with Taylor Swift on the song ‘Bad Blood’. The rapper also talks about how he left his mark on the song. Lamar also revealed how he almost did a collaboration with Prince.

Making a hit

The rapper is candid about the contribution he made to Tay Tay in an interview with Howard Stern on the Sirius XM show. The collaboration with Swift on “Bad Blood” was an idea that was not taken lightly.

“One hundred percent,” he answered when asked how much thought goes into which artists he lends his voice to. “You gotta have a great business mind, integrity, and a great team, and the number one thing we talk about is how does the music sound?”. “The number one thing we talk about is how does the music sound, how far… in the pop world is the sound. So the first thing is, let’s hear the music because the music is going to dictate the idea and the concept of where we can take this idea.”

Chemistry in LA

He explained how “Bad Blood” came about. “We (he and Swift) were both in LA so I came to her studio session. I had the music up and I started writing and jumped in the booth and we laid it down”.

“With this particular record, it was me just vibing and catching her lyrics,” he added. “I didn’t want to get in her head too crazy. I just wanted to have my own inspiration and see where it took it… Fortunately, the vibe was right and it didn’t take too many takes and we were really locked in on the chemistry and we really felt what was going on.”

Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar were announced nominated for the Grammy Awards at the 2018 event.

And the Grammy goes to…

Kendrick is one of the most nominated artists this year, with seven nominations. Including his hit of the year “Humble” nominated for Record of the Year and Album of the Year for ‘DAMN’.

While Swift’s most recent album “Reputation” was not nominated for the awards this 2018, Taylor also received two nominations. One for the song “Better Man”, which she wrote with the country band Big Little Town, and for “I Do not Wanna Live Forever” ft Zayn, which is the new soundtrack for the movie Fifty Shades Darker.

This could be an excellent year for this rapper, but is that with “Humble” how not to be? We all know at least the chorus of the song. Stay Humble, Lamar!
